I actually liked being in the girl scouts. The badges were challenging. The eagle scout I knew way-back-when was a gentleman to me.  We have a YMCA I think.

I was a cub scout, boy scout, and explorer scout as I was growing up.  And the lessons I learned just are not taught in todays schools.  And I would recomend these programs to any parent as long as the parent is going to be involved.

I was a Cub and Boy Scout way back when... real life lessons were learned in those days through the Scouting programs. Simple things like learning to get along with kids of different backgrounds to some valuable survival skills developed real self confidence and self esteem for many. Sadly things have changed so much that I am not sure if these programs are viable in these areas.

I was in Brownies for a year, but never Girl Scouts.

I never was in any scouting program, but I was assistant cub scout mother one time.  Where I grew up, we had 4-H clubs, and I was a member for a long time.

I was in Girl Scouts for several years and loved it.  I was a troop helper when my daughter was in Girl Scouts.  I enjoyed every minute of it, also.  Even had a tornado go over us during one of our outings!
Have a wonderful day!

I was in cub scouts, boy scouts (earned my Eagle badge), and even in Explorer scouts for a year. Our boy scout troop was incredibly active... We'd go camping every month of the year (I still remember having to dig out a spot in the snow so that we could pitch a tent!). We also had special outings for the older scouts, when we'd go on a week-long trip somewhere like Boston, Washington DC, Gettysburg, Charleston, etc. Usually on those long trips, we'd also go along with a Girl Scout troop; my first girlfriends were ones that I had met during one of those outings, and just continued to stay in contact after the trip was over. I also had my longest trip anywhere thru our scout troop... We spent a month traveling across the country, from NY to NM where we had a week backpacking at the Philmont Scout Ranch.

I think having all of those trip was what kept the troop so active. Usually when guys hit high school, they start to drop out of scouts. But we had guys that liked it so much that even after they graduated (and became too old to be a scout), they'd stick around and become an assistant scout master. And the guys weren't all straight-cut gentlemen that you'd usually associate with a Boy Scout... Most of the older ones were long-haired headbangers who'd sit in the back of the bus with their boom box playing Metallica, Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses, and all of those other 80s hair metal bands (I remember how often our scout master would take away a cassette tape whenever one of the songs would suddenly break out with an expletive; he was great in keeping us in line while still allowing us to have fun).

Right now I am an active member of my community YMCA, and I would like to participate in the activities of other YMCAs in my city.

I was a Mariner Scout, which was a branch of Girl Scouts devoted to water sports. We went canoeing a lot and took great trips on sailboats and ancient vessels outrigged for groups to spend a week aboard. It was loads of fun and taught all kinds of useful skills like knots and stuff.

Never was in gs but was in the 4H for years and FFA at school. Yep was a farm girl.  We lived in the country and it was hard for mother to bring us to the girl scout meetings. But the 4-H building was closer to where we lived. I raised, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and rabbits. Also learned to can and sew before i even got into high school for home enocomics. Well you can take girl out of the country but can't take country out of the girl.
