I never had authentic Mexican food, but I'm sure it's better because...it's authentic.

Authentic Mexican Food - no brainer for me.  I haven't eaten at Taco Bell in over seven years.  I found a foreign object (hard plastic, tooth-like thing) in my food.  I called them to tell them and they asked what they were suppose to do about it.  I told them to throw out the food that was made up.  They said they couldn't do that.  If a small child had swallowed it, they would have probably been choked or it would have lodged in their throat.  I even submitted a complaint to the corporate office and got no response.  I have never spent another penny at any of their restaurants since then and will not again in the future.
Have a wonderful day!

I guess it depends on why I'm eating.... If it's after a night of partying and I have the munchies, then Taco Bell. However, if I'm actually wanting to have Mexican for dinner, then authentic.

It's a tough call for me, but between the two I guess I have to choose authentic Mexican. Although a mix of the two would really be best. What say you?

It depends on the place.  There are two mexican restaurants in my town other than taco bell.  The mexican restaurants are better but taco bell is still good.

I am from N.M. and it has to be authentic mexican food of course, although just across the border into Mexico it is made a little differently. And then you have tex-mex for the gringos. But my favorite is made up in the northen part of N.M. it is really good.

Having sampled both, it's no contest - authentic Mexican all the way.  Taco Bell cannot get anywhere near that quality of food or flavor.  I do, on rare occasion, pick up some Taco Bell for a quick dinner, but it's not nearly as filling as authentic Mexican, nor near as healthy.  Most of Taco Bell food is tortilla and condiments and some kind of slurry they call "meat".

I'm also in NM and there's no contest authentic Mexican and New Mexican.  I make it at home all the time.  Fast food can't hold a candle to the real thing.  Besides, I don't really trust fast food or processed foods.  :P I like to know what's in my food.

my choice would be authentic also, although I do eat taco bell when in a hurry and want something besides a burger.

Taco bell is not real mexican food. If you're looking for real ones, then of course authentic. But if you want american style mexican food, then taco bell. LOL!

I think that both venues serve their purpose.  If I am in a rush and don't want a huge meal I can get a quick Mexican fix at Taco bell from early in the morning till the post bar time at night. If I have time I would rather sit down and enjoy the ambience of a Mexican dinner with a friend over a Margarita or two. The extra time put into preparing the dishes at a Mexican restaurant pays off in flavor. The drawback comes with plates that inevitably end up in a take home container and a belly that is too full leading to lethargy for the rest of the evening! Taco Bell stopped offering my favorite...enchiritos which was very close to enchiladas which is my favorite Mexican dish.

Authentic Mexican Food all the way they know whats up. Taco bell and such are just plain rip off low quality meat and such go for the real Mexican foods much cheaper and give more quantity as well.
