We do a large food shopping every Monday so we were pretty well stocked before the stormy weather, so did not have to run out for anything and wait in line!

i can imagine..they are calling for a little snow here and people go crazy.....i am trying to do the majority of mine online...except for bread milk and eggs..and we have a small store down the below us that i can get that from

I don't get it.  Why do people flock to the stores and fight over bread, milk, and eggs.  It is just so stupid.  Most of the people who do it already have milk and bread and eggs, and food for the week.  WHY run to the store and buy more?  You aren't going to be snowed in for 3 months.  People need to get a grip and quit freaking out.  Heaven help us if there is ever a real emergency in this country.

Yesterday we went to Krogers and  people were telling us not to go into the store unless we wanted to wait  1 hour in as half in line. We walked in to see for ourselves and the lines was near the door. It was crazy inside and the same at meijer. We left the store.

The snow storm is makung everyone concerned about not being able to get out of the house.

Stores are running out of certain foods due to the demand. :crybaby2: :snowflake:

I also don't get the people who fuss and cry about having to stand in line (and I am guessing an hour and a half is a huge exaggeration) because people are there stocking up on crap when they are doing the same thing.  They just justify why they need milk. lol.  I have worked in grocery stores before and the mention of a stray snow flurry send people into a huge panic.  And those same idiots are out in the snow playing and wrecking their cars because they wanted to try the snow out.

Happens every storm- selective shopping works- Walmart was packed and Target was easy going.  Shop at out of the normal places.

I work for a supermarket and I saw the line actually out the door. I'm talking about wall to wall people.

I always try and store items in my garage.  Extra cokes...water....soups.  It really is a good idea.  Good luck with the cold weather....I live in Southern Oregon and I was outside this evening in a tshirt...we are getting some well needed rain.  Enjoy the day.

We don't deal with snow in Florida, but when a hurricane is on the way, it's best to stock up several days in advance. Our city once ran out of gasoline 3 days in advance of a hurricane.

Sorry to hear that. I am surprised to know that there is a actual Krogers grocery I always thought it was just a supply company. I think in CA Ralph's and Food 4 less is a sister company because I buy Kroger products for less. I pray that your weather get better and as always be safe. :)

It amazes my everytime. if there is any kind of storm coming people go into panic mode and hit the grocrey stores. We had 12 plus inches of snow last week. The mojority fell thurs into Friday. Everyone was able to get out on Saturday and many were able to get out Friday afternoon.
I do have a minor disablity which makes hard to getaround in the wintertime. As a result i have at least 7-10 days of none perishable food
I guess the majority of people can't plan more than 1 day in advance which creates panic at the grocrey store.

You know, anything can happen.  A snow storm in winter, a tornado in the summer.  Or as crazy as our world is any kind of terrorist attack.  I am not saying to be like the peppers and have 10 years of food stored up but it makes sense to have enough food to make it at least a week if something were to happen and you can't get to the store.  And, I'd be willing to bet most people do have enough food to make it thru a snow storm even if they don't go to the store.  But it's not stuff they want.

I'm not having that issue where I live. I don't have children so even if there was a snowstorm I would be ok.

It you could coordinate with your neighbors and so that each family doesn't have to take a trip to the store.

I went to the grocery store a week ago last saturday and the lines were the same at Meijer. At least 8-10 people in each lane waiting...I thought it was INSANE.... We did get a "winter storm" but I thought it was still insane. The media freaks people out- thinking they will be locked in their houses for days.... I don't listen- I buy what I need and if I get stuck, I will find SOMETHING to eat/ drink.  :rainbow:
