i have a freind that will not go to the doctors even when she needs to i told her they are there for her to get better
Growing up, going to a doctor was something you did if you got a cut (needing stitches), driver's license exam, or for your vaccinations. You rarely went to a doctor but if you did, you just went. No appointments were necessary. If you were too sick to go to the doctor, they came to you.
I rarely went to a doctor but if I had a problem, my doctor would refer me to a specialist. You could talk to him, too and tell him what was wrong. If I needed an operation, he'd send you to the right specialist for a consult. After your operation, you may have had one followup visit. That was it!
After my family doctor died (20 years ago), I didn't have a doctor until 2010. In fact, I had gone to him so little that they didn't even send my records to me. This new doc made me come in every 4 months, but he was close to the kind of doctor I used to have. Because of my sarcoma, I had to see 4 specialists every month, then every 4 months, and now the one rad/onc is in a year. My poor family doc has been left out of the loop. I haven't seen him in 2 years. I'm to see him as needed, but I haven't had to see him for any illness.
Besides, I've had enough of doctors to last me a lifetime! LOL
P.S. Today, if you can't make it to the doctor because you're really sick, you have to call an ambulance. I had the flu one year and thought I was going to die, it was that bad, but I couldn't even get an ambulance. Then I had gastroenteritis so bad, I couldn't get out of my fetal position. No ambulance then, either. I had to work through both without anything.
