Tasks - Does anyone know?
« on: February 05, 2014, 12:54:26 pm »
I've done a few tasks that said some of my results weren't what they expected but when I clicked on the unfair button they had several links called upvotes. Does anyone know what this means?

Yeah. If your answer matches someone else's answer, you would click that arrow (upvote) to let CrowdFlower know.  At least that's what I think.

In the task I just did, I only had to comment on one unfair question because others had the same problem with the answers, so I just did the upvote.

These are other peoples comments who thought the results were marked wrong unfairly. If you agree with one of them all you have to do is click the arrow.

If you upvote then you agree with others and they usually will take your answer.

one recent task, lots of people had the "wrong" answer on the same question on each time I did the task (3 times) and the supposed option wasn't even an option.  This "wrong" answer severely hurt the accuracy rating on the task.  I opened a support ticket for the task.  They said they would review and if developer agree they would adjust the accuracy. It appeared to be corrected when I last looked.  I would suggest opening support tickets about these errors as I dont think anyone reads the "opinions" of the unfair answers until they have piled up as they dont seem to correct the problems.

The "upvotes" are for responses from other users as to why the expected answer doesnt match up to what they picked.  Instead of writing your own response you can just upvote an existing response so there is a more consolidated list of problems for the task owner/manager to fix.

This means that FC do not have any intentions of paying you and they hope that you will get tired of complaining.

I noticed that they are getting very slow to give answers if you disagree with their answers in tasks. It's been a week now and I didn't even get an acknowledgement that they received my ticket.

I can't do that task again until they make a decision because I was expelled from that task and I really enjoyed it.

BTW, I disagreed with their answers on an earlier task and I only received acknowledgement 3 weeks later so by the time they change their minds on the latest task, there probably won't be any left.

Yeah, those allow you to pick a reason closest to what happened to you which made you mark it unfair so that crowdflower can look into it. It's a little hard to deal with sometimes, but as you get use to it, it gets easier. Good luck!!  :glasses-nerdy:

Did you actually file a ticket or did you just "Upvote" one of the existing complaints? I almost always file a ticket if I have an issue, as I'm not sure that the task owners even read the complaints in the "This question is unfair or incorrect" section (where you state your complaint or upvote an existing one). I also make sure to include screen shots so that the CrowdFlower reps can see what I'm referring to. They don't usually take too long to respond to me, probably because I complain a lot, lol!!  ;D

I've never noticed the up vote when I've got something wrong on the tasks. It gets upsetting a lot of times when I get something wrong when I know I did it right but I just pretend like I'm playing a game and getting paid for it LOL!

That could be .  Ive noticed that some don't seem to get fixed very fast.

I wasn't aware that FC actually was the one that pays us for tasks. I think it is like the surveys if they don't get paid then we don't either.
