I can definitely understand what you are going through, I'm not getting child support either at the moment, which is why I said it does me no good to stay in my current state so that the kids can be within driving distance to their dad when he isn't doing his share so I'm buying my house out of state in a few months and whether or not he sees his kids is on him, I'll see him in court though because I WILL be getting some child support.  We've been divorced a couple years and separated since 07 and I only started asking him for child support last year and it seems he can't keep his head above water enough to pay at a steady pace (karma) but that's his problem, I'll see him in court.

Yes, a fresh start is indeed in order.  I've been saving for the last 2 years for this move and I'm so ready! 2014, much like every year starting 2009 (2008 was HORRIBLE!) will be a great year.

I'm not one to dwell on regrets but if there is one thing that I wish I could take back it would be accepting the plan my ex-husband had for his future the day after he proposed.  At 19 I wanted to leave the state of Illinois and explore.  Being 19 I didn't know what I wanted to do but I knew I didn't want to stay in Illinois.  He worked for his Dad and said he couldn't leave the family business so we would have to stick around since he was the main income earner.  Being the door mat that I was.  We stayed.  Now divorced with 3 kids - I'm stuck in this state for another 11 years.  Ugh!  To top it off he's unemployed, has stopped paying child support and of last weekend I suspect he's giving up his visitation??? So I recommend going for it - ya wouldn't want to ask yourself in the future, "why didn't i?"

California is a good place to be from.
I agree with you.

Every day is a fresh new start...live life to the fullest-you never know what will come your way. I tried Florida for a year and missed the season changes.  Make the best of what you have and appreciate everything that comes your way.  New Jersey's weather (east coast/mid-west for that matter) will change and, after a nasty winter, you will appreciate the spring and summer even more.  Then, when you get sick of the summer heat, you'll have fall for a breather and the snowy holidays that help make winter bearable. The grass always looks greener. If you are truly miserable and see no end to the current situation...give serious consideration before making the change.

I'm with you.  I hate cold weather and I know I will eventually move to someplace warm all year.  There is no way I will stay in the cold all my life.  I used to live in a place that's warm all year I miss it.

Sorry, I can't relate to the cold - I live in California.  8) A very frigid cold day out here is in the 30s...

If you make the move remember you are not just leaving the cold.  You are also leaving your friends and possibly family.  There is more to relocating than just the physical move.

Mississippi  has  a lot  of  new  industry  coming  into the state.  One  company  is hiring  500  people  every  6 months for the next 3 years.

I feel the same way.  I would love to get in the car and go.  Leave all my stuff right here.  If I do it right I could live on a cruise ship, or in a hotel rather cheaply. Never having to pay bills again.  What I dream I have.

Good luck with what you decide to do.

My son actually did that in Hawaii for a year. He got a job on a cruise ship and made a 7 day circuit around the islands every week with time to go visit during his break times. Unfortunately even that got old.

I want to just pack up and move out of state!! Preferably south, like the Carolinas, Georgia, maybe northern Florida! Can't stand this COLD, FRIGID, SNOWY, ICY, RAINY, weather we have been having! I could sell my house and BUY two houses down south! Why is NJ so expensive anyway!!?? Then I would need a job down south....uuugh! lol...decisions, decisions!  :silly:
Big decision...make sure you completely think it through...you don't want any regrets  ;) good luck

That's true, I'm 2 hours from my sisters now and I'll be 7 hours away when I move to Texas, that's the only thing that made me procrastinate on deciding on the move at first.  We're very close.

If you make the move remember you are not just leaving the cold.  You are also leaving your friends and possibly family.  There is more to relocating than just the physical move.

I can definitely relate to what you're saying, I want to explore other states too, as much as I love the snow, I want warmer weather, like California. I say do it, apply to as many job as as you can, wherever you want to move to, pack up, and go. Don't let fear hold you back, everyone needs a fresh start, go for it, and don't look back. Good luck with your decision!
Thank you for the encouragement!  ;) My husband wants to go west (California) but I think it's too expensive. I would miss the seasons as well. I used to live in Florida and I missed the seasons terribly. I can deal with the cold, just minus the SNOW! lol  :)

I moved to Portland Oregon and we had snow in 08 and again this year, but only for 4 or 5 days.

NC is awesome - beautiful especially in the mountains  but it gets cold, snowy, icy there too lol so I think to truly escape you must come to sunny Florida - Hey you only live once - go on an adventure.   :star:
