Drug testing employees
« on: February 10, 2014, 05:04:15 am »
OK, funny story!! I work for a court in the state of NJ and apparently we can use drugs! We won't get drug tested even if someone assumes we are using! What a crock of BS! I need to do some research and find out more info on this. I recently came into some privy info on an employee who deals with money at my job. This person is allegedly a user of a leafy substance called marijuana. I approached my supervisor, who then approached the Judge and he said we can't do anything about it, it's hear say. OK, maybe my source isn't 100% but that is why you test ALL your employees so you don't accuse anyone & single them out! All we can do is watch their work performance (which is NOT good btw), make sure their bathroom breaks are not too long (yeah, like they are going to be smoking in the building?? lol), and make sure you don't smell any orders from them! WHAT!!?? (yeah like I'll be sniffing them all day long!) LOL....I think I will go to hire ups like the attorneys general office! Maybe they are afraid that half the office are drug users and will be short staffed if some are fired! lol...who knows! OR should I just keep my mouth shut (even though I need to open my mouth!!)?? Any input or suggestions would be great!

I think you should go hire and find someone who cares.  i work for an small private company and we get randomly tested.  My first year with this particular company my SS# came up 5 times for testing, i was mad and the president of the company told me, guess what me too.  Somehow the computer likes our numbers because you and me have gone 5 times this year.  I have not being "selected" again since then,  but i know they still do it.

It is a pain but I think it is a good practice.  If you have nothing to fear then you can go and have it done.  Maybe the Judge and you supervisor are his clients and do not want the test done, so they don't get call for it.

I worked at a job where they would "randomly" select two people at once. It was usually one person they suspected and another people they didn't so it didn't look suspicious to just keep picking those couple people on drugs

I agree with random drug testing for everyone.  (P.S.  Don't you mean higher-ups rather than hire ups?)

:) I worked for a large grocery chain and drug use was expressively forbidden. Find someone who cares.  :)

Quite the opposite. Everyone likes me BEST from my other supervisors and FAR from a snitch! Doing what I have to do! If they found out that I knew of any evidence of someone abusing drugs, I would be an accomplice, therefore - I could lose my job! My job is not worth losing over some POT HEAD! I bet you smoke don't ya?? lol  :P

There is not a lot YOU can do.  Do they not have some sort of drug use policy?  Surely they do.  If the person is not coming in high then they can't just drug test them because another employee said they use pot.

I am curious as to how this will all work when in the states that have legalized pot if somebody is under the influence or fails a drug test because of pot for a company that says it is against their rules to use it and work for them.  I don't think the state can over rule a private company's rules.

When we done state work we had to do the drug testing every month.  The place that done the testing would choose who came.  They said the computer done it.  They chose two.  A main one and a back up if the first one couldn't come for whatever reason.

Every work place should do random drug testing to get rid of the bad apples.

I believe drug testing should be done randomly to get rid of the drug abusers and separate the non-drug users from the drug users.  Your employer seems not to really care about this.  If you go to the higher ups about it, your employer can single you out as a troublemaker.  But you don't have to accept this behavior.  I wouldn't accept it either. ??? :bad:  :rainbow:

I agree.  I also believe ALL people who receive money from the government should be drug tested.
