maybe food companies automatically make food prices rise as soon as theres even talk of increasing incomes...even before they have been increased. food prices rise+ slightly higher income= same/ lower standard of living

Food prices are up, but you can buy some basic stuff, that will keep you filled on a small grocery budget. Some grocery that is not too expensive is oatmeal, bread, eggs, rice, dry beans, tofu, and seasonal veggies which are reasonably priced. You should be ready to cook from scratch though!

All stores prices have increased.  In the past such stores as Aldi had prices where you could buy more than a bag of food, but not anymore.

Food prices and everything else is up from where it was but the government still maintains there is no inflation.

I went to the store the other day and saw how chicken and beef prices really went up so if they don't go down I will become a vegetarian until they become reasonable again. Not to mention that I will lose weight which will make me more healthy.

I've noticed that food in the east coast costs more.

The food is going up & the packages are getting smaller.
Have you been noticing that?   Yet still there are a lot of people who are grossly overweight.   I don't get it, if food is so expensive, which it is, how do people afford all the food it takes to maintain that weight.    Even empty carb loaded food is expensive.    I don't get it.

It is related to transportation cost. Look at the high prices of fuel at the pumps!

I've noticed it. I have taken every measure I can take to cut back on food. I might possibly have to cut back on other things just to keep eating healthy. It's ridiculous!

There are several ways to cut prices.  In my area, the main markets are Walmart Supercenter, IGA/Sunflower, and Kroger's.  I started shopping at Walmart because I find a lot of items that are cheaper.  I would buy whiting in a 5-pound box for $10.89.  The vendor (SeaBest) started putting it in plastic bags and I find it for $4.98.  Because I am choicy about the food I eat, I wrote SeaBest an e-mail, simply because they indicated the whiting I buy is "pan-ready", which indicates to me that the only thing I have to do is heat up my grease, season my fish and fry it up.  I wanted them to know that the term "pan-ready" is misrepresenting because I clean my fish and have found scales.  They say they cut off the head, the tail and take the guts out, but there is a little white covering and there is blood underneath.  I gave them the UPC code on the fish, and as good measure, I am getting a refund for the two packs of fish I purchased.  I buy a box of 12 ramen noodles for $2.28 (my grandson loves them) and I buy canned goods.  My family and I eat three meals a day.  I don't understand how blondie says she and her husband only eat one meal a day.  These are suggestions I live by.  You are a consumer, and have the right to inform the vendors what is right and what is wrong about their product.   :rainbow:
