California Laws!!!
« on: July 10, 2009, 12:20:04 pm »
Okay so my family and I just moved back to california from oklahoma. My husband and I are now unemployed and constantly fighting about money. Well one day he decides to go "play" we dont have the money for him to do anything. So we start arguing in the driveway. The neighbors decided to call the cops and tell them that he was throwing me on the street and punching me and kicking me. I told the cop that he did nothing of the kind and that I didn't want him to go to jail or press charges. Did you know that in the state of california that if the "abused" does not press charges the state will. To say the least we a fighting even more now because he has these b/s charges on him and now have all kinds of other things to pay. But now we fight inside the house not outside. California has come up with the most outrageous laws I have ever heard of. :BangHead:

Yes I know, I live here in California as well and can understand how you feel, but i think that that is the law in almost every state.  I think it is designed to protect you in case (If he had really hit you) he had said "I'll get you when I getout of jail"......so, look at it this way, it might save the life of a REAL battered woman, to which we need none of.  Women should be treated like gold.  You might have better luck in court telling the judge.

:'(

aww.
you should just go up to him &throw your arms around him
and give him the biggest bear hug ever. and grab his face
&look into his eyes and tell him that you love him. and tell
him that you'll get through it together, because you always have.
and remind him of the "for rich or poor" vows you
both said...

(wow, sorry, just in a lovey dovey mood i guess)

but i'd have to agree that those laws are pretty silly  :P
