Living with family or by yourself we get older?

When you get older and retired will you think you live on your own or we you move in with your family? Where you can low on your grandkids more easily ! My wife and I used to live our own till she died I we had a house over in Gaston Oregon. Then she died and my youngest son had me come over and play with him and his family. Because he figured I would be too lonely in that house by myself. He and he was right!

Glad to hear you have a son who is looking out for you and is willing to have you visit/stay with his family.  Even better that you are enjoying the interaction.

There is a third alternative:  moving into a assisted living facility that caters to able bodied seniors who want to free themselves of home owning responsibilities and have the company of others of the similar age.  Cost may be a issue.  When I looked into it, however, I discovered most facilities have community ISP arrangements which would make accessing FC (and similar sites) not workable.  Wasn't ready to give up FC so I stayed where I was.

I would rather live with my daughter and grandchildren, but I more than likely will live with my husband until he goes on to the great beyond.  I want to buy a trailer of my own.

I would not like my mother to live alone.  I am glad my sister and her family lives with my mother.

No i don't think I would live with either of my kids.I will live on my own after mu husband dies or vice versa.We don't all get along too good.Ok but not good enough to live with..My mother is 66 and on her own and I can't imagine my mother living with me.I think I would be fit for a sanitarium..I really wish our family got along better,but we don't.And no one seems to care whether we do or not..Tired of wishing everyone would get along.

I am facing that with my Mom right now, she is in her own home but I would really like her to downsize and go into a senior community.

My aunt and I share a place.  We are both on social security and it makes it easier to have a nicer, safer place to live.

So happy for you that you have such great family. I am not sure what would happened to my husband or I if the other passes away, I don't think we could live with either one of our children.

I have watched my family struggle taking care of elderly members.  I think, if possible, I will choose to live in an assisted living facility.  Hopefully I will still have my mind.

I want to live on my own. I'm very independent now and would only think of myself as a burden if I move in with my family while they're trying to raise their own family.

I think that I want to live by myself for as long as I can when I get older. sometimes it's difficult to live with family or others for that matter, so if i live with someone i want it to be because i have no other choice.

I still live at home with my dad, brother and sister.  Too expensive to live on my own.  I don't' see that changing any time soon. :/

If my husband would die I would stay where I am until I got older.  Then I probably would move to a senior independent living apartment.  My stepfather lived in one and it was beautiful.  He had a great apartment, meals, and his apartment cleaned.  There were tons of activities to do and lots of new friends to meet.  He even found a girlfriend there!
