Sure, have a great vet.  We have two mini pins, one has gone blind and is diabetic.  He gets two shots a day.  We love these little guys and would not trade them for anything.

Start training it immediately. The longer you let the pup do whatever, its' going to become confused if you suddenly start correcting it for things it had no problems doing before.
