A few months ago, I contacted my company's IT help chat since one of the company's programs that checks all computers connected on their network to be compliant wasn't appearing to work any more. I first waited close to an hour before the chat session was picked up by a help desk rep. The first thing they wrote was for me to give them 5 more minutes (I assumed to tie up some loose issues from their previous call / chat). Since I was busy trying to finish off a different project, I just read the message and went back to the other project without writing anything. About 7 minutes later (I know the timings because f the complaint I later sent), the rep. came back on the session, but just wrote that they were sorry but that they wouldn't be able to help me at that time. At the time I didn't think much of it (I just assumed that maybe the other call they thought would take only another 5 minutes turned out to be more difficult and time consuming, so they just wanted to excuse themselves instead of keeping me waiting for an indefinite period of time). Although that rep. had left the chat session, it appeared that the session was still active (just no one on the other end) so I decided to wait a little longer to see if a different rep. would pick up. After waiting another hour, I finally decided that e-mailing my question may work better than waiting around all day for someone to answer the chat session. So I went back to my ticket to change the preferred communication for a reply from chat session to e-mail. Lo and behold, I saw that my ticket was closed, and that the rep. that had joined the chat earlier had been the one to close it, as being resolved, and the resolution was that since I didn't respond within 5 minutes from initial contact, that my problem must have been solved! Luckily there was a way to re-open a ticket within 24 hours if the supposed resolution didn't work. I furthermore issued another ticket, this time complaining that the rep. told me to wait 5 minutes and then closed the ticket when I didn't respond within those 5 minutes (as I was following what I had been directed to do by waiting). I also included a transcript of the chat session to show that they first said to wait and then closed the ticket shortly after that waiting period had expired.

any customer service that does not help you in anyway or form.  a customer service person who ignores you,,,,  or does not try to help you.  I hate people who see you coming to ask you a question and they take off in the other direction.  or they pretend to be on the phone.  Or someone who thinks they are better then you and just makes up something to get rid of you.

they should not be in customer service !!!!1

I am a mystery/secret shopper.  99% of my job is just checking on customer service.  All of the grocery stores I  do the first thing they ask is if the cashier greeted you.  Did they make you feel like they were glad you were at the store.  Did they ask if you found everything you needed.  Did they say thank you.  I do 25 different grocery stores, some Mom & Pop and some chains, this is standard for all of them.  They don't necessarily lose their job for being a jerk, but they often have to go through re-training.  They would have to go through the same training if the complaint comes from a mystery shopper or a paying customer.    If you have a choice to go where they are friendly or where they ignore you  or are rude, where are you going to spend your money?  Management knows...good customer service/relations is worth its weight in gold.

I went into a McDonalds where none of the employees spoke English.  Luckily my Spanish was up to par as I ordered Un Grande Desayuno y dos burritos! The young lady was appreciative but had to get the manager to help her figure out the change in American currency. In another incident: I went to a hoighty toighty clothes salon with my wife (nothing under one hundred and fifty dollars) and the clerk stayed on a personal call for the entire twenty five minutes we were in there without ever acknowledging us. My wife found an outfit she liked, had a hard time finding her size, asked me what I thought and I told her that I would constantly be reminded of the lousy service we received every time she wore it. We walked out without buying anything.

I don't know if this fits into customer service but at Walmart today, a lady decided to try on new pants OUTSIDE the changing rooms and the worker there saw her but didn't make her go into a changing room??

A few days ago, I drove to one of the hospitals in our area to pick up a neighbor who was there as a patient and was going to be released. I drove up to the valet parking area since I was unfamiliar with the parking at this hospital to get parking service. I young gal came out with a ticket, took one look at the inside of my car, which is a stick shift, and she told me that she was not able to park my car because she did not know how to drive stick. I was floored! So I asked her what did she want me to do? Her response was to pull up about 10 feet and park right in front. I was even more floored! So that's what I did. I could not believe that a parking attendant was hired (who did the hiring?) that did not know how to drive manual transmission vehicles. Go figure.

In my town the local Wal-Mart Superstore has some of the worst customer service than any other place I know.  The big joke is if you have no personally go work at Wal-Mart.
