The best way that works for me is a rag soaked with plain water and a shower squeegee.  I wet down the mirror with the wet rag, then use the shower squeegee to clean the water off.  Leaves no streaks at all.  Understand that this squeegee doesn't have a sponge on it.  It's just a hand-held squeegee with a clear rubber on it.  You can find the shower squeegee at Home Depot.

This is exactly the one I use and it does an awesome job:

Vinegar and water, it might smell like a salad but it sparkles and cleans everything!! :) The smell does not last too long. Try it and let us know!

I use plain water and it seems to work fine plus it doesn't cost too much. The soap is what leaves the film and since I have had to cut spending I discovered that.  I use a water sprayer and a cloth.

I use vinegar and newspaper to clean windows. If I have extra I use car window cleaner.

I have heard that using newspapers works.
You don't even need to get them wet when you clean the windows.

I've tried newspaper and I end up with newsprint all over my hands but I guess some people do well with it.  I use regular window cleaner or vinegar and water with paper towels.  I expect that squeegee would work well.

I usually use paper towels with Windex and I always leave streaks. It's annoying.  :-\

I use coffee filters to wipe with instead of wash cloths and paper towels. It is a little tricked I learned from working at resturants. Really helps with streaks.

I'll have to try vinegar next time I wash the windows.

I've used a variety of methods as well.  For large jobs a squeegee is a must.  I prefer windex (Or even a blue solution from the dollar store) and paper towels.

If you want a buyable product, Walmart sells a really good product called Sprayway which is superb at cleaning and not leaving streaks. I do believe you can mix vinegar (or lemon juice) with water and it leaves a similar result. Instead of using old wash cloths or rags, newspaper is excellent at removing water streaks before they show.
