I'm a grumpy old man and don't have as many friends as I once did. Almost all of my school/childhood friends moved away long ago. I'm self employed and work from home so I don't have a workplace to meet new people and my hobbies have gone by the wayside.

I am blessed with a great many friends.  They have always been there and totally understand about my incessant need to work.  They empathize with me meeting the needs of my family and the tremendous time constraint working two jobs can create. My friends text on a weekly basis, call monthly (often with no return call from me), offer to take me on trips at least once a year (no cost to me) and I am never in a position to reciprocate. When we do get together, they are from all over the country, it is like we have never had a a lapse in time away from each other-we pick up from where we left off. Certain friends can be told anything and trust me enough to tell me anything without judgement.

I have very few good friends, a few more people that I am friendly with but many of my friends have passed on.  I have never had a lot of friends anyway as I have found as long as I am the giving one, they're great friends but if I need something they are long gone.
