Sleep overs?
« on: July 23, 2014, 03:14:12 pm »
??? Do you let your kids go to sleep overs with their friends, or just with relatives, or none?

My son has this friend that geeee, if he could move in he would. Poor thing, guess not much attention from his parents at home.

I don't like my son to sleep over at nobody's house and besides he doesn't feel comfortable either.  :highfive:

I don't have them at my house, but I let my daughter go to them if she is invited and I know the parents. She is 8.

:bad: I don't like sleep overs. I don't feel comfortable having my children sleeping at someone's house.

Sounds like you've been adopted as a second mom :)  My kids had a few friends that did that too.
I let my kids go on sleep overs if I felt good about where they were going and they had to too. Now that I think of it they really only slept over at a few places.

There is so many crazy people in the world even if you think you know someone you never really know them or what they might do or what someone in their house might do.  I would be leery of letting a kid sleep at someone's house.  I also would be leery of letting other kids sleep at my house because you never know what you could be accused of.  I know of situations where good people were accused of stuff they did not do just because someone got mad.

If u asked this question back in the 70's, when there was much respect and love in the world, I would not have any problems. But now, the present, it is kind of difficult. My children will only sleep over at their grand parents or family members. Outside of that, my wife and I are against it.

When i was young we had many sleep overs, but sadly times have changed.  My kids only slept over at family members or my best friend's house, never just playmates.

My son has a little friend who everyday around 10am he is ringing the doorbell. I have to tell the lil guy that my son is either still sleep or eating breakfast and he will come outside if he chooses to and to not keep coming and ringing the doorbell every hour on the hour. I do not allow my son to sleep over anyone house except for his uncle's home. Since the bedbug fix I do not allow kids in our home and my son is not allowed to go in anyone house.

vp44, thank you for saying that.  I was thinking the same thing.  I am so over-paranoid about the knowledge that bringing one little bedbug can lead to just yuuuuuuuuck that I have the same (probably irrational) fear.

I do and did let my girls go on sleep overs but I insist on meeting the parents first. With the 22 year old I found out that the parents were heavy smokers and because of her asthma I wouldn't let her stay. She understood, wasn't happy about it but also didn't want to end up in the hospital. My 12 year old has one good friend that they trade off on houses now.

my child is too young yet to have sleep overs with anyone but family members and since he is still breastfed he stays at home.
