I choose air fresheners so I won't have to worry about anything happening with the fire on a candle.

I love to use both candles and air fresheners, depending on my mood and what's going on that day. Sometimes it is also a little safer to use air fresheners around, especially with small children around. I also like to use incense in the home for some variety.

You have to be careful with candles as they can leave soot on your walls and ceiling, but I still love them.

I love both but candles can cause damage (black spots)

I love large scented candles, but the good quality ones can be very expensive, so I don't buy them as often as I would like. I use fragrant oil burners instead.

I used to use candles all the time until one got a little too close to the wall and almost started a fire!!  lol
Luckily (it was God) we were all in the room at the time and took care of it quickly!  Now no more candles for me!
I use other things, just not candles!!   :-X

Fragrances from candles seem to last longer unless the plug-in type of air freshener is used, which allows for a continuous release of scent into the air.  Candles are nice for creating a special ambiance at night or for an evening meal.  I always keep a generous supply of candles on hand just in case of electrical outages (which has absolutely nothing to do with freshening the air, but just saying...).

I prefer scented candles over air fresheners, because candles make the whole house smell good for hours. But I still like to have air fresheners around when the candle is not burning

i used candles scented oils and glad air spray but mostly the olis
I love candles. Air fresheners that plug-into the wall are dangerous. Spray air fresheners smell good but are sometimes overwhelming. Candles last a long time after they are extingushed.
