Life Can Be Tragic
« on: August 12, 2014, 11:04:36 am »
Been thinking a lot watching news events lately.  The death of Robin Williams by suicide, the death of young, 20 year old race car driver Kevin Ward (sort of a suicide by going on that track), the death of the 18 year old young man by the policeman in, I believe, Missouri, and then the more large scale devastation in Gaza...sometimes certain events just make you think about life in general...your own situation...and the tragedy in certain instances.

Sometimes I just feel a sadness for what happens to individuals, groups, the world in general.  I guess I have no particular point, just saying.......................

I certainly was shocked yesterday when I heard about Robin Williams.  While it was well-known that he suffered with severe depression, it really didn't lessen the shock.  What really amazed me about him is how he could get up on a stage, act in a movie, etc., and bring such joy and laughter to so many people - yet at the same time - he was feeling such horrible depression and unhappiness, so much so, to take his own life.  I hope he's found whatever it was he was looking for.  RIP, Robin Williams.

Anyone that takes their own life,be it a famous person or just your common Joe is sad.

Just typical for this world.

Thou shall not kill is a command God gives even if its suicide.Hopefully because God can see the heart and inner side of us all Robin was ignorant of what he did and God will love and remember him as all the others that have done such a tragic thing.

"Life can be wildly tragic at times, and I’ve had my share. But whatever happens to you, you have to keep a slightly comic attitude. In the final analysis, you have got not to forget to laugh.” ~ Katherine Hepburn

Robin Williams didn't just die of suicide. He died of depression. He wouldn't have committed suicide if he was not suffering from depression. Suicide is a fatal symptom of depression, really. It's depression that he died from. If you really think about it, Robin Williams was battling with depression for years and lost. So losing to depression is what really killed him. I'd know better than other people considering that I'm fighting that battle as well. Sometimes there just isn't any way to win, and I've considered it many times before as well. I say it's a symptom because most people that are depression attempt, succeed, or at least consider suicide. I just hope that he didn't lose his battle for nothing. Hopefully, this will at least bring more attention to depression as an illness so that people will stop pretending that people struggling with depression are perfectly okay.

Very well put.  Robin Williams, sadly, was a sick man.  It's such a shame that he was not able to get the needed help.  As far as depression is concerned, it is truly a disease.  It's a disease that kills people every day.  Unless one has experienced it themselves, they will probably never understand the dangers involved.  I have experienced it in the past.  I do understand.  May I say that I sincerely hope that you are able to find whatever help you need to beat your depression. :)

Ehh. Everyone dies sometime, a lot of people in a lot worse ways and a lot less well-known.

At least we have a legacy to remember certain people by (like Robin Williams) or people that die for a cause that brings things to light (that guy who got shot to death in Ferguson)   :-X

It is so hard to believe that someone that made us laugh was suffering so much inside. ( Robin Williams). Suicide is never the answer. Permanent solution to a temporary problem. Prayers to those who suffer from depression!

That's why we should remind people how loved they are. When people believe they won't be missed, it's a little easier to end a life. Keep that in mind, and tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, not just because of this, but because they deserve to feel loved.

Life is tragic, I don't have to think about Robin Williams, I had a sister who died at the age of 26 for no apparent reason, now that's tragic...

:( I`m so sorry for your loss Sarabtrayior. I lost a stepdaughter at the young age of 16 three months after she got her license in a one car accident, then I lost a 22 year old niece to a drunk driver. Life really can be hard. you just never know what can happen.
