Robin Williams - Meanwhile, in Iraq
« on: August 13, 2014, 04:30:41 am »
I think it's sad that nearly EVERYONE knows and is saddened by the death of Robin Williams but so few know of or even care about the hundreds of Iraqi Christian children, mothers, and fathers are being murdered for their love for Christ.

I have seen multiple posts about Robin Williams.  I haven't seen one post about ISIS - this is so sad.  I feel like no one cares about what's going on in the world - priorities are out of order for most.

There is one picture circulating around the web of a 10 year old Muslim boy holding up a head of a Iraqi Christian child, the father was saying, "That's my boy!" - multiple Iraqi children are being beheaded, mothers being raped, killed, or FORCED to be a Muslim wife AKA convert.  Fathers are being hung.  It's convert or die.  Thousands have fled to nearby cities or mountains and children are dying from a lack of food and water.

Unpleasant?  Sure, but it's life and it's happening right now and just because it's unpleasant doesn't mean you should turn a blind eye.

No skin off Obamas back - our Muslim president deals with this world crisis with two rounds of golf while on vacation.

Thanking the Lord today for the privilege to study His word without fear of physical persecution.

For my true brothers and sisters in Christ - those who believe through faith alone in Christ alone, and not by good works - just remember James 5:16 ..The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

They need our prayers.

Yes they do. I have seen some of the pictures. I have read accounts fo the persecuted. I do pray or those who are tortured for their faith. Our country does not have a grip on the reality of the world situation or Christians. Although we complain about how many of our rights are being taken away, we still have rights others in the world only dream of. I haven't fortton! I am thankful to be an American and what it stands for.

Last night in our Congregation meeting, one of our spiritual brothers commented on the horrible things going on in Iraq - the heartless killings.  So, yes, while many of us are shocked and saddened by the tragic news of Robin Williams, there are people sympathetic for others as well.

I'm just glad that we have the 1st and 2nd amendment in this country---the freedom to practice our faith and the right to defend ourselves against anyone who would try to take it away.

YOU are the first person I have heard say he was holding the head of a child.  Pretty sure it was an adult.  Either way, I agree it is sick.  I totally understand what you are saying.  But in a couple of days people will forget about Robin Williams and move on to something else.

What is happening in the Middle East is horrible.  But there is not a lot we can do about it here.  We as in we the little people can't do anything other than pray or donate money to Christian organizations that claim the money will go for food that is being air dropped to these people on the mountain.  You also have to take into consideration that the majority of people in the US are NOT Christians so they really do not care.  Also, a lot of people do not read or listen to the world news.  I am getting to where I read less and less of it.  It stresses me too badly and there is nothing I can do about it.  Besides all that God told us this was going to happen.  The end is near.
Be ready!

Children are being beheaded and sliced in two.  These are the most horrible people on the earth, even worse than the Nazis back in the 30's and 40's and most people do not seem to much care including our government which is doing way too little and way too late.

First of all Obama is not Muslim and even if he was it has no bearing on what is going on in the Middle East. I don't even understand that point.

Anyhow...

That region has been raging for hundreds of years...maybe even thousand of years. It's always something. There's no end in sight.

We help one country or one fraction and another country or area flares up. It's like there's fires all over the place and everyone thinks that the U.S. has to be the ONE to do something.

The UN Is pretty much useless and doesn't get involved as much as they should be in these kinds of issues. Which is why a lot of the burden falls on the shoulders of the U.S.

It is definitely sad to see what's going on but other countries, Muslims, the UN have to take a stand on these issues (killings) too and help the people in these war-torn countries help them solve their own problems.

All we're doing is butting band aids on huge puncture wounds.

It's great we're helping those people who were stuck on the mountain by giving them food and water, but after we deliver the aid, then what?

What's the long-term solution?

I know that.  But the picture of the kid you mentioned I had not heard that was a kid.  I saw the picture but what he was holding was blurred out.  You are right in that most people don't seem to care with our government especially the leader of our country caring the least.

I heard something this morning about how we could get them out of the country or off the mountain and where they could be relocated to.  Maybe along with food we could air drop massive weapons and they could come back down off the mountain and take their homes back!

Just because people are saddened by the loss of Robin Williams doesn't mean they aren't saddened by the deaths in Iraq. Also, Robin Williams is someone that people feel as if they know. People are more likely to be affected by the death of someone whose name and face is familiar to them than a stranger.

I agree with you.  There are plenty of Americans with their heads in the sand about islam - because that's what it's all about.  This is not a religion.  It's an ideology whose way is pure death and violence - convert or die.  The bigger shame here is that the GOVERNMENT isn't looking at this, either, simply because this president IS muslim.  Let's not forget how he said he would be on the side of the muslims should the winds of change blow.  Well, he sure is since he's arming the enemies of our country and people.  He disgusts me.

I was among the shocked to hear about Robin Williams taking his own life.  It is very sad.  He was iconic in American comedy.  It's true, so many are morning over the Robin Williams loss.  It is a sad occurrence.  The lives lost in Iraq are equally sad.  I feel as though generations of Americans have gone numb to what is being done to fellow brothers and sisters and rather face the reality it's easier to ignore it.  This is regard to everything anymore.

The picture is actually of a 7-year old Australian kid with the head of a Syrian solider.

We have a moral obligation to stand up for the innocent people who are dying.  If the militant group gets strong enough they will be over here.  Will you say the same thing when you are run out of your home with only what you can take in your hands because you refuse to convert to islam?

IF we had done things right in 1990 or 1991 when we very first went over there we would not have this problem now.  We go over there and *bleep* foot around.  We should have leveled them the first time.  Not play war games with them.

It is shock and very sad that Robin Williams committed suicide, he is a very talented actor and made a lot of good movies too.
