I have seen more and more of the changes in the years as to how a family wants to remember their loved ones who have passed away. Gone are the traditional funeral days of singing amazing grace and having a sermon. Many more families would like to pay tribute and show their final respect to their loved ones by personalizing it. Some churches have specific ways they would like to take care of the funerals but now, it is more of the families request of how they want things done. I like that. But man it is so expensive what a funeral costs nowadays. I think the best gift you can give your family is a prepaid and prearranged funeral before you die.
I heard funderals ccan cost up to 100 dollars

$100?  Really?  Try $10,000 and that is considered cheap.

I agree that it's important for each person to make an effort to make things easy for their loved ones.  I sent my children a specific letter about my life insurance policy and that I want to be cremated so they can split whatever money is left after I'm gone.

I also mentioned that I'd like them to keep things simple.

My oldest child seemed to respect and appreciate what I did; however my youngest child wasn't comfortable discussing it.  Both my children are adults.

Glad you discussed that with them. I know for a fact that will be  one of the greatest gift you will leave for your children. Knowing they don't have to worry about the cost.

I think that the funeral business is a gigantic scam. They guilt you into spending money on things that truly don't matter because they somehow convince people that they must spend the most amount of money possible burying their loved ones or they didn't love them enough. I don't want my family to spend anything to dispose of my body. I have no use of my body or anything they spend the money on. I would much rather the money be spent on my children and their future.

Jford.....its nice to see someone on Fusion Cash has discernment with the way this robs people and they get away with it!!

The people left behind in the family can do much more with funds, savings, life ins etc than someone 6 ft under!!

Read my earlier post on how 1 of Gods servants and Gods organization show how to cope with this and save you lots of money and yet give a loving eulogy on the deceased by following Jesus words!!

I think a funeral home is a place to help in your time of sorrow.  It takes a special person to comfort others during a time of sadness and to do it on a daily basis has to be very hard.

Talk to the funeral home director, you should know immediately if they are a caring person or in it for the money.

In southern Illinois, a typical funeral will cost around 10k.  Definately a lot of money, but purchase life insurance to cover the costs.

Funerals are for the living, so whatever my wife and son want to do when I'm gone, is fine w/ me.  I just hope they don't spend too much.
