how do people live with out air conditions

My ac hasn't worked in a while. We had somebody come strip the wires while we were out of town and haven't been able to get it fixed. We have the ceiling fans going in each room and then at least one other in the bedrooms. Two in our bedroom because of the size.

I have lived without air conditioning for many years. I own an air conditioner, but we never put it in the window because the amount of time it is actually needed is not worth the effort of installing it. We get by with fans just fine.

Agreed, I live in Florida and it is as you know SO hot here  now with that said as I am getting older I am easily chilled.  It was very hot here yesterday and today but I was cold in the grocery store but most Florida days I couldn't do without air conditioning.

I think people who don't have air conditioners must grow accustomed to it.  They find tricks to stay cool, and like many have said here, it all depends on where you live and the climate conditions.  But if you are used to the AC blasting, then, all of a sudden, have to live without it, I'm sure it's a shock to the system.  I hope your AC has been repaired by now!

No ac here. I have a fan and just open doors and windows. I drink plenty of fluids and grab an ice pack if it gets too hot.. 100+ Failing that, the mall is great place to stay cool.

I did for awhile many years ago. A cool washrag on the back of the neck and putting feet in pan of cool water helped!

I have before with a really good high powered fan. I bought two when my a.c had went until I got it fixed. It's nice to have on days when I just need a little air.

I feel for ya. We live in Texas and ours broke down last month. Luckily we got it fixed after a few days but it was hotter than hades while it was out.

my ac unit died today and it is hotter then heck in my house right now i got 3 fans going waiting on the guy to get here sure hope it can be fixed tonight

Yes, you can live without AC.  A lot of people do not have AC and only have fans, usually floor fans which only circulate the hot air.  I have ceiling fans in all my rooms which keeps my house cool throughout.  It's very seldom that I turn on my AC.

I have ac but I dont like to use it too much as it a lot of electricity. I dont mind keeping the windows open and having a small fan on. Or just go somewhere that has ac..like the mall or movies.

I hear you because I really hate the heat!! It hasn't been too bad a summer this year so we never put our air conditioners in and I really miss them on a hot humid day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
