School uniforms

What is your thinking about school uniforms?  This is the first year the school district where I live has required them from kindergarten to 12th grade.

i agree with it because there are to many kids that don't have or can afford the clothing that some can and it stops the kids who can afford the better clothing from picking on the ones who can't afford it

I grew up in Samoa and we wear uniforms everyday. This was basically our Identity. The only way you can differentiate between schools is by the school uniforms. It is also mandatory because if you skip school, the police officers and principal can identify you and then send a message to your parents. But now, I think there are other families who have more students attending the same school and it will be too much for some parents to pay for the uniforms.

I don't know about that, but it will be boring to wear everyday with the same uniforms.

I'm not a huge fan of it, but I can see the rationale behind it

I think this is a great idea.  Requiring school uniforms eliminates kids from possibly bullying another kid who is unable to buy the latest or brand name fashions. Plus you don't have the hassle of trying to determine what your child will wear to school each day.   :)

School uniforms are a great idea, because every kid wears the same, and there is no comparison about clothes and stuff.

I think the uniforms are a good idea.  Everyone wears the same thing.

I don't see anything wrong with uniforms.  At least those that have will not bully those that don't. When we were in school, they measured our hems on dresses and skirts. and they had to be 1" below our knee. The boys all had to wear dark pants, shirt and tie.  Didn't hurt us. Now the teachers have to get on to the girls about their skirts being so short that when they bend over their panties and more show. . But those are out now here in our school and the boys have to pull up their baggy pants and wear a belt.  And they cannot have their cell phones out.   It isn't going to hurt them and maybe they will learn some thing.

I grew up in an old fashioned school. And I loved all my uniforms!

There is nothing wrong with wearing school uniforms.  My children attend private school and  wear uniforms.  With school uniforms education is more on their mind than material things.

I grew up in the United Kingdom and uniforms are compulsory right up until to get into college, even now. If you were lucky, your school might pick up on the navy blue set with a crisp white shirt. Our school was had the most dull grey cardigan, grey skirt and white shirt. If you had an alternative grey skirt which wasn't the suggested style you might be allowed to wear it if it was the same shade of grey. It really cuts down on those families who have a load to spend on style and fashion and everybody turns out looking roughly the same.

I had one in secondary school. I was fine with it.  Though the amount of white shirts I had...ugh.
