I wish my mom would've taught me how to cook. Instead she just yells every time we cook something wrong. Oh well! lol

So don't cook anything.  I wouldn't.  Not if I was just going to get yelled at. :(

 that's great!! my wife is teaching my daughter the same thing. I like it because I consider it as a survival skill.

Last week I taught my boys each 6 and 4 how to make bread. It was funny watching my 6 year old knead the dough. I offered to do it in the food processor, but he wanted to do it himself. I ended up doing most of it, but I let them make 3 logs of dough and I taught them how to make braided bread. It was fun for sure. (-:

I'm curious how old your daughter is?  Mine is 16 and I had to kick her out of the kitchen this last March.  It's temporary and required for her health.  However leading up to that point she was becoming a novice in the kitchen.  One of the things I loved about working with her was if she was messy and had her hands full I would clean behind her... she caught on quickly and started doing the same for me.  Cleaning as you go can really save time and chaos in the kitchen so I hope she keeps up that skill.

I think when we all started we made a huge mess ... I have refined the art of cleaning as I go ... but it took years to perfect it.   My mom still makes a huge mess .. lol

My mom was a good cook but she didn't really teach us how to cook.  She did try to teach me to make biscuits but I lost interest after the first attempt. I am a decent cook but at 61 I could care less about cooking.  My youngest son is an excellent cook and he does most of the cooking for us.

Teaching my girl to cook – it’s the same here at my home, I’m one that I am cooking and cleaning at the same time and I try to teach that to my daughter, but no luck so far. Hope she gets it someday.

I taught both of my boys too cook.  They learned how to read and follow recipes very well. But then they as they got older they were  adding other things to the recipes.  Usually pretty good. But one time my son (13) decided to pressure some beans  and since he dad liked sardines ( he was strange)  with them he put a can in with the beans. Oh la can you see it now. All of those little bones floating on top. They went to town and had hamburgers.  The boys called and could not stop laughing about. I know  I had taught them better but you know boys.

i taught all my kids how to cook and clean up as they go so it turned out, besides they had cooking class in school so that helped.i had hand towels coming up missing cause she would catch them on fire by using them as pot holders throwing them away and not telling me,she also burned her hair cause are stove was next to the counter and she turned around and poof her was on fire.so know that she is on her own her boyfriend does the cooking.lol or she orders out.

i thought it would be easy but man she made such a mess in the kitchen i had her make baked ziti because she has been watching me cook this for years there was sauce everywhere i never laugh so hard as i did today

Good attitude, mom. I'm proud of you and your daughter.

I'll bet the ziti tasted great and you created a wonderful memory together!

My daughter is is now 29, never had any interest in cooking. I tried lots of times to get her in the kitchen with me, she just didn't have the desire to learn to cook. I love to cook and try new recipes and so forth, my kids, well they just like to come and eat what I cook! LOL

Eating nutritious meals is a matter of survival. Teach her easy to make recipes. No mess in the kitchen, please!
