Just be upfront and sincere about how hard you work and how much you bring to the business by your faithfulness, dedication and hard work.
Have a wonderful day!

Never had to ask for one they, have always been automatic, or by production.

Talk to your boss, tell him about all the things you have done to make the company you work for better and your continued improvement.

You need proof that you deserve a raise.  What have you done to warrant a raise?

We always got one every year.  Are you sure of your company's raise policy?  Maybe they only give one a year, I would find that out first.  If that's not the reason you haven't got one, then approach your boss calm and have your reasons for a raise documented, (good employee, good attendance, knows job well, productive employee, etc.). Good luck and hope you get one!

Do you know how much you could make in similar position at another company? That's something that is always good to know when asking for a raise.

Back in January, my boss gave me a $1500/yr raise. I wanted more than that, so I went and talked to him. I gave him so figures, talked about the added responsibilities I had undertaken, and he gave me an additional $6,000/yr. He pretty much agreed with what I said, and that he had given it some thought on giving me a bigger raise to begin with. Sometimes you just need to show the initiative.

I think the best way is to show that you deserve one.  I often hear people say that something 'isn't their job'.  How do they expect to get a raise like that.  Go above and beyond and give them no choice but to give you a raise.

Any tips/experiences on asking for one?

Depends on where you work.  Most bigger companies like fast food, Walmart, Lowes, and the like have a pay and raise policy and you get a raise once a year.  If it is a smaller company - depends on how long you have been there and how long it has been since you got a raise.  Don't make such a big deal out of it.  Just ask.

Most companies do them on anniversaries or a set time each year. I've asked for them on occasion, but you need to have an argument in place if they balk.

Bring up valid points when asking like working longer or harder, helping others at works, etc.

I don't think they care if you tell them you always help others.  And they only see what they want to.
