Celtic Woman
« on: September 06, 2014, 08:25:25 am »
I'm currently listening to a Celtic Woman CD.

They also have DVD's so I've watched them on TV and that's how I originally decided to buy their music.  Celtic Woman is a handful of females with angelic voices.  Their harmonies blend beautifully and their music carries a high vibrational frequency.  Sometimes I fall asleep to their music because I love the energy.

Classical music also carries a high vibrational frequency; however, I haven't acquired a taste for classical music, yet.

Celtic Woman has a new concert on DVD and CD that came out on Feb. 25, 2014 and they also have Christmas music.

Have you ever seen one of their concerts or listened to their music?

Have a great day!

Yes, I have seen their concerts on the PBS channels.  Also Celtic Men is fantastic too.  I have recorded them and play them back for backgound music or wen I just want to relax.  I have not seen them in person, but I plan on it when they are back in my area.

Yes, I usually watch them on PBS during the Christmas season. My favorite one is the lady that dance and play her violin running around on stage. But all in all I have enjoyed the soothing sound when all their voices blend together. Oh yeah don't forget the guy on the drums.

I love Celtic Women!  I saw them many years ago on PBS and watch them now whenever I can.  I did not know there was a Celtic Man.  I will have to look that up.  Thanks for the information.

I am a big fan of Celtic music. If you enjoy Celtic Women, there are a few other groups / singers that have a similar "ethereal" sound: Enya (although she tends to be more New Age than Celtic), Loreena McKennitt, Karan Casey, Solas, Orealis, and Lunasa to name a few (Lunasa is much more of the very traditional Celtic style, so they have more jigs and reals).

Then there are the "pub bands" as I like to think of them. Usually they tend to be male performers and the music tends to be more boisterous; songs that make you feeling like stomping your feet and swinging your pint of ale. A few of my favorites in this category are Great Big Sea, Gaelic Storm, Enter the Haggis, The Young Dubliners, and the Saw Doctors.

And then there are the Celtic punk groups that seemed to have gained more interest in recent years. These include the Pogues, Flogging Molly, and the Dropkick Murpheys.

I also like a "fusion folk" band -- the Duhks -- that seem to blend folk music from several different countries like American bluegrass, traditional Celtic music, Australian folk (with didgeridoos), and even some Cajun Zydeco. Thus some of their songs have more distinct old soul / gospel (imagine the style of music from the old slave plantations. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mf1R62CqgI4) while others have more of the traditional Celtic music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UL9Lvb4OAg0). And then some songs just seem to blend everything together (like this has both Celtic and bluegrass elements: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkviU7EKtG8).
