It's about time!  Thugs have no place in being high-priced role models for our youth.  I hope it is a wake-up call to all of the other manly men who hit and beat on women and children!  I feel sorry for his wife ~ which I can't believe she married him after what he did to her ~ money isn't worth it!  If he hit her and knocked her out before this, what do you think he will do to her since he has lost his job now?  I'm sure he will blame her.
Have a wonderful day!

I agree with the member who posted just prior to me...unbelievable that the woman married him...and sad that she doesn't value herself more.  I am glad that such a "role model" is being shown for what he is.  I hear he is getting help.  I hope whatever program it is helps him going forward, but he needs to suffer a sizeable career penalty.

I'm so glad he got caught.  I can't understand her marrying him after his abuse.  He's not a man but a coward.  It takes a 'real man' to hit a woman.  Why don't you try hitting a man your size rather than a smaller woman.  I am 5'5" and weigh about 125, my husband is 6'2" and close to 200 lbs.  Never in our entire life together have I ever been afraid, no matter how loud our fights have been, that he would hit me.  No woman should have to fear her partner.  He gets what he deserves!

I don't agree with him hitting her, but remember she hit him first.  Woman need to remember never hit a man if you don't want to get hit back.  Some men will never hit a woman they will walk away (and they should), but please hear me suspend him for a year, but to never let him play again.  Women stop hitting men if you don't want to be hit back and to spit in his face, you are asking to be hit.  I don't agree with him hitting her, but she needs to take some source of responsibility.

I don't like the idea of a lifetime suspension which is what was done to Pete Rose and it's not right.
I do question the woman's sanity for marrying him but I guess it is worth it to her because he is wealthy.  She's going to have to learn to start saving money now.

I think all the way around its craziness.  I think abuse is terrible from whether initiated from a male or a female.  It sounds like these two both need counseling.  I don't feel sorry for either one of them - feel sorry if they have kids who grow up in fear and anxiety from those two.

Janay Rice's (wife of Ray Rice) statement is so outrageously sad and just not right on so many levels. Yet unfortunately typical. She does nothing for the fight on domestic violence except maybe take it a few steps backwards.
I sincerely hope our young women today know their worth in God and are not influenced by her severely confused take on her situation.

Pretty sorry about how the 'disciplinary' consequences were so little until the video went public....the only way justice gets served is if you show the world....pathetic!

I have a feeling both were drinking. I don't believe any male should hit a female. But when the drinks start so do the fights. I know. My ex-husband  of just a short year and a half. started beating on me after we had been married a short time. Yep the liquor. When he wasn't drinking a very nice man. What I did not know was he was an alcoholic . But when dating he did not drink around me.

Horribe, also dumb because he should've known that an elevator has cameras.

Did you even watch the video? Ray spit on her first and then she takes her hand to slap him. Ray follows her into the elevator, spits on her again, hits her, she regains her balance walks towards him and he delivers the knockout blow. Ray was the aggressor throughout the confrontation. I find the victim blaming disgusting.

I'm glad he was fired, but what was she thinking? She should have ran as far as fast as she could away from him but instead she married the man! What?

I agree that he shouldn't have hit her and with some punishment by the league. But what I find ironic is what happened to Michael Vick... He was convicted on felony charges, spent some time in jail, and yet the league essentially slapped him on the wrist for what he was involved in. Maybe Ray should've just called her a b*tch and said he was just involved in some dog fighting....
