There was a video that was released of a police officer beating a woman side the road, no one tried to help her and no one has shown the same outrage....why?

I agree that he shouldn't have hit her and with some punishment by the league. But what I find ironic is what happened to Michael Vick... He was convicted on felony charges, spent some time in jail, and yet the league essentially slapped him on the wrist for what he was involved in. Maybe Ray should've just called her a b*tch and said he was just involved in some dog fighting....

I'm not sure where you get the idea that Vick was just given a slap on the wrist compared to Rice. Vick was suspended indefinitely after pleading guilty, which is exactly what happened to Rice after the tape came out. It ultimately ended up being a three year suspension while he served in jail. Rice won't be suspended for three years.

So reading through everyone's comments, I did not know that Ray Rice spat on her. It didn't look like that in the video, at least from my perspective. I did see that she hit him in the very beginning of the recording. But either way, not matter who you want to call the victim or the aggressor, both are guilty. Both of them need counseling for domestic violence, anger management, and probably relationship counseling. I'm more concerned as to how the NFL handled the issue. Just by watching the first video that leaked out, how could you not think that he knocked her out?? You see the two of them smacking each other and next thing, he's dragging her out of the elevator while she's unconscious.. helloo!!! They can't put two and two together?? Obviously something happened.. they should have suspended him upon further investigation. But banning him for life over one mistake? Ruining his life over one mistake? How will he and his wife live together now? They'll hate each other over this. I don't agree with the punishment. Domestic violence should be taken seriously and should never happen, but I think they were too hard on him. People make mistakes all the time, and for domestic violence.. they don't pay for it with the rest of their lives. How will the children feel when they go to school and their father is defined by this one incident? I feel for the children who have to go through this.

He wasn't banned for life. I'm not sure if the can extend his original suspension of 2 games, but he is looking at 6 games at the max. Then it just depends if another team is willing to sign him.

My opinion is this, Domestic abuse is not good from either the female or the male, whoever started it it does not matter, he should not have hit her period, they might have been drunk and gone out of there way, whatever.  I do not respect anyone who accepts and continues on that type of relationship, she should not have married him, but again whatever.  Yes, he should be punish as an example and because of been a public figure and he should set the example.  What I do not agree with is the extreme way the media has gone about it, it is just too much.  Thousands of wifes/husband go to this same kind of abuse everyday and granted, they are not "Famous" but nobody does anything about it, and I am sure there are plenty of videos like that one out there.  Just punish him for a few years (not lifetime) and do something about "Domestic Violence", for everyone not just for them.

Everyone gets what they deserve and if she stayed with him let them be miserable together and the media should move on to see how all of this can fix the epidemic that is Domestic violence everywhere not just with those two or with what the NFL did or did not do.

Everything has been hear-say so I am not in the best place to pass judgement...nor am I ever one who likes to pass judgement. I spoke to a sports caster friend who is totally against violence of any type and he said that the inter change appeared to be two sided. Ray Rice's fiancé at the time slapped him, he moved back, she came at him and he hit her. The punch looked hard to the sports caster but not enough to knock her out...he said that it looked like she hit her head against the elevator railing as she fell.  I agree...they shouldn't have followed through on the marriage if they are at the point where violence is in the picture and I certainly do not condone violence.

Well, given that his wife is still with him and supporting him,and we have people who have done more heinous things and are still playing,I think a lifetime suspension seems a little severe.

Suspend him for a year and see that he stays on the straight & narrow during that time.If he does, then reevaluate the situation next year.

It's about time!  Thugs have no place in being high-priced role models for our youth.  I hope it is a wake-up call to all of the other manly men who hit and beat on women and children!  I feel sorry for his wife ~ which I can't believe she married him after what he did to her ~ money isn't worth it!  If he hit her and knocked her out before this, what do you think he will do to her since he has lost his job now?  I'm sure he will blame her.
I understand that domestic violence is no place in anyone home. But it's people like you who label people thugs that really is sickening. He is wrong for domestic violence not robbing a liquor store neither is better than the other but thugs go around robbing people and conning people out of their money and calling it white collar crime, they are thugs also thieves. These two are both wrong for treating each other badly and not handling it better. Also it is none of our business. Too bad for him and her they did not try to get some help before it got worse. Now he is out of a job. Sad!

I am in agreement with him being banned for life because he others like him have people who look up to him. that's not a good role model. I pray that his wife does she right thing. She's the only one who knows if this has happened in the past (or is still happening). Not a pretty picture that we saw in the elevator, but there are still people who disagee with the nfl ban and think that the public need to stay out of the Rice's relationship. I just hope we don't hear anything else about them.

I do not agree with violence she should have not hit me. the league decision was a bit harsh. do any of you really care a Mrs. Rice well-being or her husband for that matter or r u just reacting from your impluses. They deserve privacy and time to heal not everyone stating their opinon about the situation.

I think that it is ridiculous how people are sticking up for him he did a horrible thing and should be in jail for it i think that it is great that hes kicked out of the NFL but i really think he needs to be sitting in a jail cell!

I'm glad something is being done about it.  But people really need to learn that if you hit someone, or take a swing at someone, that they may come back at you.  Granted, we shouldn't be hitting people for any reason than self defense, but that's a different issue.
