It's not as hard as one might think plus if you make a "cake from scratch" at least you know what's in it and you're not eating all the preservatives in cake mixes.  You basically need 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 cups sugar, 4 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 cup whole milk, 1/4 cup butter (the lightly salted type); 2 tsp. baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt.  These ingredients can be found on the web at CAKE BOSS.COM together with the rest of the info as to mixing and baking.  I have found this to be the best "sponge cake" around.

I don't have a recipe handy, but look up mug cakes if you want a great single/double serving of cake without leftovers.  They're great and come in many flavors.  I'm partial to a chocolate recipe with chocolate chips.  They melt so you bite into little pockets of fudgy goodness.   ;D ;)

Basic ingredients, sifted flour, baking powder, sugar, eggs, oil, sometimes butter and water, then add cocoa for chocolate cake or a teaspoon or two of vanilla. Actually you can add any flavor your like. McCormick has many liquid flavors you can add even combine. I usually bake at either 325 or 350

I get mine from the box  ;D  :highfive:

As much as I bake I don't make many cakes by scratch.  Growing up my Mom did all the time.  So when I could get my taste buds on a hostess cupcake or a pillsbury cake or even store bought cake at another kids birthday party I though that was the best.  Funny thing I made a cake tonight.  1 chocolate cake mix. 1 yellow cake mix with instant banana pudding mix.  I made 3 cakes and swirled the two.  Sliced up fresh bananas and put them in between layers.  Of coo lwhip mixed with vanilla instant pudding.  The thing was so tall.  I wish I had a picture of it... you would crack up just looking at it.

I can not help you out with that sorry I always buy them from a bakery but I am sure you can find some sort of video online or recipe. Good luck!

It's not hard and there are lots of recipes out there but they usually don't come out as light as the box mixes. But it's a lot more fun to make your own.
