Do you say what's on your mind or do you tend to bite your tongue?

When I'm at home with my family I speak what's on my mind. However, when I'm in public I keep my thoughts and words to myself.  I might say the wrong thing and get in trouble.

I would have to say I hold everything in.  For instance, a couple years ago I blew up at my step dad and NO one has ever seen me stand up for my self like that but after him raising me since I was 10 til than I just let him say what ever he wants and do what ever he wants well I had it when he said I couldn't talk to my father and my half sister, and two step sisters.  I am 43 years old and I demanded that he start treating me like an adult rather than a child.  You should of seen the faces of everyone who was there they were like who is that I have never seen that person and now my step dad keeps his nose out of my business and my sister said its about time you stand up for your self and your family.

I agree with your sister, you're old enough to make your own decisions.

When something needs to be said, I try to word it diplomatically but am not always successful.  If it is not necessary or would not be of any benefit, I try to bite my tongue.  Speaking your mind just to vent can do a lot of damage. A better method is to let it all out by writing a "letter" then not send it, or do your venting to God-- He knows your heart and can help you make good decisions with what you speak to others.

it really depends on who i am talking to.  if its just me and my husband i am more likely to comment freely however if im around his or my family i tend to keep more tight lipped.

I had to stop telling people how much I made with my education. My co-workers think they should  make the same without the education.

It deoends on the people and situation.  With my family I tend to say what I feel.  In other situations I tend to watch my words.

I am open with my family, but with extended family, I don't reveal my thoughts to everyone.

There are certain things that stays within the family circle that I do often let it out out if it's bothering me, but other than that, I am pretty much "keep it to myself" type a person.

I tend to bite my tongue more often than saying what's on my mind.
