burrowing owls

can be so fascinating to watch. There are many nests in a nearby city. Residents set up a group to watch over the owls all year long. There is a group of residents who watch osprey nests too. I had a chance to get an osprey t shirt and declined. Now,I wish I had gotten one.

I have heard owls are really cool but I have never seen one in person. I would love to sometime.

They truly are gorgeous creatures.  I love all animals. A while back my husband and I were taking a nice walk on a trail.  When I looked up, there settled on the tree branch was an adorable owl.  I tried to get the attention of 2 girls walking on the trail in the opposite direction.  I wanted them to see the owl but they were both too focused on the conversation on the cell phone.  How sad is that?!?!   :(

We have some Native American ruins in the mountains near where I live.  I photographed a pair of great horned owl chicks who's nest was up in a slot near the top of the mission church.  When I first spotted them I didn't know what I was looking at.  They looked like a pair of sneakers so I looked with my binoculars and was startled to see them looking back.  Their parents were in a nearby tree keeping watch.   :o ;D 8)

I have seen a few owls but I don't believe I've every seen a Great Horned Owl although I did have a huge owl nearly crash into my car window some years back.

Speaking of Owls I seen one in my yard for the first time a few weeks ago. My husband called me to come out back and it was so cool. They were hooting and my husband started making the same noise and they were talking back. It was awesome. There were at least 2 but I only seen one, it flew over my head and was huge.

I read this as "borrowing owls" at first xD Which I dunno if I'd let someone borrow my owl :P

But on topic, that's awesome! When I was younger, my mom rescued an owl. He was stuck in someone's car grill! Tiny little thing, but not every species is hugely impressive. He was very cool in a small package.
