Isn't it Strange?
« on: October 17, 2014, 08:59:49 am »
Isn't it strange that all of a sudden, the infected Dallas health care workers are taking vacations, and traveling not only in this country but out of the country as well?  It's like they are purposely trying to spread Ebola as fast and far as possible. Not only the second nurse, who flew to Ohio and back, but now I just read that a lab worker took a cruise! They need to enforce isolation of all the health care workers in that hospital, since apparently they aren't responsible enough to stay put on their own.

The second nurse contacted CDC several times to ask if she should fly with a 99.5 temp and they told her to go ahead.  Blame CDC, they're the ones that are screwing this up all over the place.

My mind was just wondering if this is the new terrorist weapon forge to annihilate America and the rest of the world instead of actual terrorist attacks or a nuke bomb. Well I better not think too hard just my own thoughts to myself. Only a theory nothing concrete!!!

The TX outbreak is troublesome.  I also wondered if this could be a terrorist way of attacking America

The whole situation is strange. I remember back in the 90's they described Ebola as a disease where you would bleed out (I could be mistaken, but I think they said people affected organs would liquify)....Were there any reports of people bleeding out???....I know someone would call me a conspiracy theorist. So I'll just leave it at that, cause I'm not interested in arguing with people.

To my knowledge I think that one of the nurses actually called the Center for Disease Control the day before flying to highlight the fact that she had a temperature and they said she was good to fly as it was only 99.something degrees. They have only been flown to Atlanta (I think it is) for further treatment and were covered from head to toe in the hazardous clothing required by the CDC. They didn't ask for this disease and they didn't asked to be flown to Atlanta but it is the best place for treating this deadly illness. I might add that they have just reported on the news that Terence Duncan, who died last week, was living with family members whilst he was very ill, having been turned away from the hospital, and NONE of the family have been infected!

It may not be but, it certainly CAN be used as such.  Think about Anthrax.

It's not like this just started up in the US. The Ebola outbreak started in West Africa back in December 2013. Someone that was infected brought it to the US. Think Aids, Malaria, Cholera, etc.

Dr Oz was just answering questions about ebola.  IT'S VERY HARD TO CATCH.  Now please stop spreading sensationalized rumors and go to Dt Oz's site and learn the facts.  ::)

It may not be but, it certainly CAN be used as such.  Think about Anthrax.

Big difference between Anthrax and Ebola - Anthrax, like Influenza, can be contracted via airborne distribution (Anthrax is a bacteria, not a virus too).  Eblola is more like HIV - you need to swap fluids to contract the virus.  In addition, the Ebola virus is only contagious when the patient is exhibiting symptoms - unlike other diseases where you can be most contagious before you even show a single symptom (like the flu).  A terrorist would most likely want to choose a disease with the greatest chance of spreading - that would not be Ebola.

Unless you are in the habit of licking up the "spray" after an obvious sick person sneezes on you - you are not that likely to contract Ebola.  Just follow standard flu preventative measures - wash your hands frequently and don't put your hands near your eyes, nose, mouth prior to washing your hands.

It's not surprising that a couple nurses who were working in close contact with an infected patient contracted the virus.  Has anyone heard of any reports of the other passengers on the plan with patient 0 getting sick?  Not that I've heard, and we're way past the incubation period.  If we don't hear anything in the next week, they are all probably in the clear.

First off let me say that I do believe that this Ebola virus is a dangerous thing. But I will also say that I think most of this is propaganda by the right wing to bash Obama. Now, like I said, I do not take this virus lightly. It is bad. And I also believe that most of those workers in the hospitals don't know if they were infected. They might have been tested already. This, like Aids, will die down eventually.

You would think professionals in the health care industry would be more knowledgeable and know not to travel if they had been exposed at all.  People need more common sense these days.
