Corner gas stations
« on: October 19, 2014, 05:58:10 am »
I never understand...how when there are four gas stations at a corner and people go to the one with higher prices. Is there one type of gas that's better than another?

How big of a price difference are you talking? If it's only a cent or two, it really doesn't seem worth the hassle to me of navigating through traffic to get to the cheaper one. Usually just go to the most convenient one.

I know that my SUV will get better overall mileage with the mid-grade gasoline. I do know there are some differences in the quality of gas between some stations. The best way to tell is if your vehicle starts to have preignition problems or noticible sputtering after changing fill-up stations. Then you just buying gas from that station.

Some people don't look at the gas prices, whereas some people are very price conscious. I'm somewhere in the middle.

I've heard that the more expensive stores have better gas for those who have newer vehicles. But if someone has an older car then they can put anything in their tank. For me, I go to the station with the middle prices...not the cheapest and definitely not the most expensive.

I always buy the lowest price gas that I can find unless your car asks for the higher price fuel, I would buy the cheapest gas.

Sometimes it is about how many people are waiting and how difficult it will be to get back going the direction you want.

I have seen this same thing. I figured that maybe at this particular gas station they may have a gas card or either some type of rewards program going on. I have just joined one and when I dine out or do some shopping I get 10 to 25 cents off a gallon.

It is because of the quality of the fuel.

Some people have brand loyalty. To a degree, I might too if I'm given the option between an unknown brand and one I've used before and is branded. I don't have one anymore, but some people also have gas cards too and might want to earn their points.

It is an answer to traffic, brand loyalty, and convenience. If you are on one side of the street and the gas startion with the most affordable prices is jam packed then you are likely to go to the closer more expensive station.

I choose the cheapest of them, unless theres umpteen cars there, and its going to be a heck of a long wait, then if I absolutely need the gas will go to the one thats more, if I can wait I just go on

Some people like to be consistent and get their fuel from the same station doesn't matter the prices. When you put gasoline from the same station versus different stations you will notice a difference in your vehicle's performance. I like to do that and be consistent with mines. It's like taking care of your body. You eat what you think it is good for your body and be consistent with it.
