Well I love to go fishing when it is not so hot. As for teaching the kids it teaches them to be still,  I used to take that time and talk with my children. Amazing how much they would talk about while watching their fishing line. In order for it to be a great family time all of the family needs to like to fish.

I like fishing but I have only been a few times. I would teach my son because I think it is a good outing and also life lesson, something like teach him to fish he won't go hungry type of thing. :)

I went fishing as a kid and liked it, however, I probably would not go fishing as an adult. I think it benefits kids to learn how to fish or at least try it once.

I went fishing as a kid, & I hated it. Too many black flies & mosquitoes.

I'm mixed feelings about fishing as I caught a fish only once and I hooked myself more than once in my lifetime. I guess I'm impatient. I guess for people who have the patience, this could be a good learning method to teach others the same.

i love to fish and am patiently waiting until my soon to be two year old has enough attention span that we can take him fishing and get him a little mickey mouse pole like i used to have when i was growing up and going fishing with my dad.  some of my favorite memories growing up as a kid were going fishing with my daddy.

When I was growing up, most of the lakes around NY were very poor for fishing; some lakes were too contaminated from past acid rain. So I never liked fishing; it's boring to sit around all day for no results. But now that I'm living in MN, the fishing is MUCH better. Still, my past experience has tainted my enjoyment... The most fun I've had fishing was when our family went north to Lake of the Woods for a vacation. The lodge we stayed at had chartered boats that we'd go out on for the day, and the boats would have a bunch of lines out in the water. When one of the lines would catch a fish, the next person in order would reel in their fish, and we'd continue rotating throughout the day. By the end of the day we'd usually come back with our limits of fish. The lodge would also prepare your fish to eat for dinner if you wanted, and there was a chest freezer in each room to freeze the rest if you wanted. But other than that trip, I haven't really enjoyed fishing...

I really ought to try fishing as I have a stocked lake on my property but I have never fished it.  My granddaughter sometimes catches her dinner though.  The only fishing I have ever done at all is deep sea fishing some years ago and it was fun since we caught quite a few fish.

Naw I might get into it some now if I find a new husband that fishes - I fished some with my grandparents as a real little girl and caught a tiny fish and a turtle once but I was really young and I think my grandfather did most of the fishing lol.

I do like it if there was success. A couple times I went with my boys and someone who is really good at it and we spent the entire day in different spots of the same river and then moved on to a lake and we were unsuccessful. I don't know if I am "bad luck" but every time the guy goes out with someone else they just show a lot of success on his Facebook page. So yes and no.
