Who's your favorite Fine Art Artist?
« on: July 27, 2009, 08:20:13 pm »
It's hard to say which one is mine because of all the influence I use for my photography...lets say I am generated to the Romantic era, with the help of Diane Arbus/Sandy Skoglund/Parke-Harrison, and Salvador Dali/Andy Warhol/Jackson Pollock....

So then do tell me who is yours  ;D

Well if you're counting photography than Ansel Adams, outside of that I dont have a favorite artist, though I love art.

i'm a huge andy warhol fan, but not so much of his paintings.
i love his films and photography more, and what he did overall
with the '60s...

charlie harper
fawn gehweiler
mark ryden
stanley kubrick (photography)

does anyone read the magazine juxtapoz?
i'm really into that type of illustration/graphic art.

Oh, Ansle Adams, the man of the zone system...what a complicated system he has created for black & white film photography.

i know, she's awesome! i saw her ballad of sexual dependency at MoMA, blew it off at first but when i actually sat down and watched all of it, it blew my mind! her photography is very personal and that's something that i love, it was like a breath of fresh air. plus the music set to it.........fantastic!

Are you an Art student?  :)
I like most of the great old masters from what you see in the art history museums. There are just too many artists to list.

Here are some of them:

  • Alphonse Mucha
  • Leonardo da Vinci
  • Jean-Honoré Fragonard
  • Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Le Brun
  • John Singer Sargent

 I took classes at U.C.Davis with Wayne Theibauld,[Painting}, and Robert Arneson,{ceramics} ,in 1982... They were famous then.. and REAL famous now.. Professor Theibauld has many covers on "THE NEW YORKER" mag... Bob died of cancer, about 15 years ago. I am a artist now, and have a lot of shows. I wish I was as famous as they are !!!

I love Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell. Very sexy fantasy art but still tasteful! :)

That is a hard question.  For me, it is a tie between Salvador Dali and M.C. Escher.  I really enjoy how they are able to manipulate reality through their uses of perception.  And how they are able to make some of the most fantastic or imaginative scenes seem almost real and plausible.  M. C. Escher, especially, seemed to be able to turn his works into illusions where one would find himself doing double or even triple takes, trying to figure it out.
