table for five
« on: November 08, 2014, 08:22:10 am »
If you went to a restaurant with four other friends,
would you ask for a table for 6 or a table for 4 and
ask the host to add a fifth chair?
I think a table for six would be more comfortable ( more elbow room).

I would tell them it was a party of 5 & let them accommodate accordingly.   Usually they will give you a bigger table, I haven't seen where they would squish 5 people in a table meant for 4 unless the fifth was a baby in a high chair.  :)

With coworkers, I usually ask for a table for ten or twelve, with extra chairs in case more show up.

I think a table for six would be more comfortable ( more elbow room).

They usually ask how many is in the party and would set you at a table for 6 or more.  They would not give you a table for 4 and add a chair unless they were completely slammed and full and had not other choice.

I would not want to take a table for 4.  I would either wait til a larger table was available or just go somewhere else.
