It depends on how much it was and how I found it.  Like, if it was in a bank bag or something like that, I would turn it into the police.  If it was a hundred dollar bill laying in a parking lot, well that I would probably keep.

If you found a lot of cash while you were out and about would you really turn it in, or head right to the stores?

When you find money in a store or on the road who are you going to turn it into?  The store would just keep it because they have no proof someone found it, now if I see someone drop the money and walk away than I would catchup and tell them what I saw and give the money back.  Other wise someone else is just going to spend it.  I try to be as honest as I can when dealing with people but in this event there really is no one to turn the money over to, Now my brother or sister found money on the curb of a street where no one lived there and the money was found one of them bought dinner for everyone.  When i have extra than I donate such as when I cashed out on here I donated money out of my earnings to help others and it made me feel good.

Know if the money was from a bank robbery or something like that I would turn it in, but If I found money on the ground who do I turn it in to the police?  I'm just saying if I find twenty, fifty dollars maybe one hundred dollars on the ground, yes I would keep it because no one know who lost it, but if it was in a wallet then yes because it would have ID in it, but just finding money....is a lots of different things that can happen

If it is just cash and no way to identify who lost it then I like everyone else, no matter what they say, would put it in my pocket.

Gizmo42, did you read the first comment by the OP?  If you found money while you were out and about.  Not in your front yard.

I know this question is asked on most applications for jobs nowadays and the answer everyone gives is they would turn it in.  But reality is if it is just cash and no one is around and there is no way to identify who lost it they are going to keep the money.  At the same time if it comes about that they find out who lost the money some would give it back and some would laugh and say finders keepers.

People amaze me at how careless they are.  I have seen people half way stuff money in their back pocket, walking from a store with cash, receipt, keys and everything else in their hands and they drop stuff and don't even know it.  When I get change in a store or where ever I immediately put it in my purse or pocket.
