peppermint leaves, and my mom used to mix a glass of milk with a teaspoon of butter and 1 prune, warm up the milk and drink it, it really helps with the voice and the itching on the throat

I suggest a warm water with salt gargle or a diluted vinegar with water gargle; hot tea with lemon and honey and of course, chicken soup; homemade preferably.

And by all means stay home if at all possible and try not to talk.  A sore throat needs adequate rest from talking.

Gargling with warm salt water always works best for me, but I've had other people tell me to try warm water and lemon or ginger, honey, lemon and water.

Feel better!

Cough drops or some sort of hard candy that I could suck on all day.  Tea with honey is a fav, I skip the lemon with a sore throat as I find it more irritating then helpful.

I agree. Putting just a few drops of tea tree oil, like 3-4 drops in half a cup of water, with salt and gargling helps as well. Tea tree oil is antibacterial and is always good for things like that.

Pour water and vinegar together into a cup and gargle, as least that's one way to do it.

Gargle Listerine-your favorite flavor! Drink water to moist your membranes. Use some cough drops.

I'm a firm believer in gargling with salt water.  My partner was advised to use a diluted version of peroxide for what he thought was an infection in his gums from a tooth that needs to be pulled out.  (his self diagnosis) Doc told him to do that for a week.  Over achiever that he is he did it for a month and developed some sort of blister on the gums.  Be care with overusing peroxide.
