I spent a year of elementary school in a school that required you to wear a uniform. That school was more out of control than the school I went to next, which allowed the kids to dress casual. I don't personally think it makes much of a difference. As long as you are covered within reason, it should all be good.

Well I think this has helped a little I guess. When I was growing up I had to wear a uniform when I was in catholic School, but when I got to public school it was jeans and sneakers.

It helps keep inappropriate clothing out of school. Not all, but a lot of kids are always so anxious to show off as much of their bodies as they can get away with it. And they're getting younger and younger. I went to schools where we had uniforms. I was a little different in the way that I didn't mind the uniforms. For me it was one less thing to worry about in the morning, what to wear to school.

I wore uniforms back east, and when I moved back to where I come from we had a dress code, girls wore dresses and the boys wore a jacket and tie. It did not hurt us any at all. The reason some schools have so much trouble is because there is no discipline any more,

It represents the school and shows distinction, as a parent I can say its more affordable as well.

No didn't have to wear a uniform, though I feel like it looks nice when everyone is in uniform and it suppose to say discipline.

It would cut down on kids who don't have the money for the. name brand clothes being made fun of.  This country is so out of control I don't see school uniforms being enforced for the most part.

Our county requires that our kids wear uniforms from prek though 12th and in our case it has helped. We don't have the budget to go out and get these fancy clothes. A lot of my daughters clothes come from good will and such. She is already teased enough as it is, it would be a lot worse if she went into school wearing second hand clothes.

Can I ask what country you are from?  And there is nothing wrong with 2nd hand clothes. :)

Mine too.  I would not have liked wearing a uniform but if you start out that way and never know anything different it's not that big of a deal.  I also realize the bully will just find something else to make fun of others for.

I think school uniforms are great.  They allow kids to focus on education rather than what they and others are wearing.

I love school uniforms.   You don't have to think a whole lot about what you or your child is going to wear.  They have most of the time, several different ways to wear the uniforms.  It is one less distraction at the school.  No have and have nots.
