Found a wallet...
« on: December 19, 2014, 09:13:48 pm »
I was shopping tonight for last minute Christmas gifts and as I went out to the parking lot and was placing the cart on the side I noticed a black wallet on the ground. Opened it up and the 1st thing I noticed was a young males school ID from a near by high school in grade 11. Then I opened the wallet further and saw a wad of cash in it. My heart went out to the kid that lost it  so I tried calling his towns local police dept, they told me to call my police dept and to drop it off to them or call the state police. ALL i wanted was to leave my phone number for the kid in case he reported his wallet lost so he could contact me and I could bring it to him. I won't leave it with the PD because ever since I had a house fire back when I was a kid, the local PD and firemen stole jewelry and money from a strong box that was not burnt, plus I work with a lot of cops and have seen a lot of unfortunate political favors and thieving going on. So NO one is going to help me reach out to this poor kid who is probably devastated, thinking he lost ALL of his money and was probably out Christmas shopping. Well guess what? I did some investigating of my own and found him on facebook and messaged him and hopefully will hear from him to return his wallet with everything in tact! NOT looking for anything in return except for the expression on his face when he sees there are still good people in the world who have good intentions and good faith!  :angel11:

You did exactly the right thing. I would do the same as well. He must of been devastated to lose his wallet.

Good for you for doing the right thing!  I hope you are successful in finding the young man to return his wallet.

If school is in session, and you have the opportunity, maybe you could try going to the school office to have him paged to return the wallet?

That sounds like the best idea.

Thank you for being such a nice decent person!!

This is a good story, i'm anxious to read how it all ends :)

Thankfully there are still really good people in this world like yourself!  You're going to make this kid have faith in humanity & that is always a good thing.

Hope that you hear from him soon!  I've lost a wallet in the past and it was returned to me.  I'm thankful that there are people that return them intact, as I would do the same.

if it were me, Id ask him how much was in the wallet, and make sure it matches, or very close to it, you hear of people putting up fake profiles on facebook aka catfishing, taking other peoples photos from facebook putting it on their own etc. That would stink if you gave it to the wrong person

I also find it hard to believe that the cops would do that, *shrugs* but thats just me :)

That is an amazing find! Its scares me to carry that much cash. I know you have a good heart. does it say what school the kid goes to or some clues. if you want you can ask around and mention it to the principle at the school.

I would call the school and have them contact the young man. Thanks for being an honest person.
