Fruit Cake! Have you ever actually tried it?

Fruit cake and mince meat pie are two things I have never tried and do not have a desire to!  They just don't sounds very good to me at all.

Yes, I have, several times especially when told this is the best fruitcake ever.  I may have tried the best fruitcake ever but I still don't like fruitcake.  I don't like jam cakes either.

I have and depending on who makes it it is really good.  My sister inlaw make one of the best ones, it is very, very good.  But there are some of them that are really nasty

Some fruitcakes are better than others.  And it does tend to be very sweet and rich, so--small doses are recommended.

If a fruit cake is made right I like it. I will not buy the stuff that is sold in the stores, it is awful.  I am the only one in my family that likes it, of course I have not a fruit cake in years only because all I have heard is I won't eat that stuff. And I can make a great fruit cake, without using the awful citron that  the stores put in. I make a fruit cake type cookie and the  they scarf it up. Hehe they just don't know. But it has honey and good fruits in it.

I don't think I've ever actually tried fruit cake. I've heard the jokes about it of course. And looking at the recipes, well, I'm not really an alcohol drinker, so didn't appeal that much to me in the past.
But I found a fruit cake recipe yesterday - literally cake with dried fruit in it - so I baked one  I'll report tonight how it tasted. Crossing my fingers I didn't mess it up.
 
Anyone have any fruit cake recipes they enjoy? Or horror stories Feel free to post jokes or whatever too. lol

I actually tried to eat fruit cake 5 time but did not like it and I will not try any more.

I like fruit cake but some are better than others. The secret is that it should not be too dry.
