Filling Stockings

When you put up stockings,  do you fill them or have them just for decorations?

i just have them for decorations.

I just put some candy in them for my kids.  They get enough presents, I don't need to fill them with more gifts. Just some sugar to make them even more hyper. Lol

Mostly for decorations.  Once in a while I may put some fruit and candy inside one before I go to bed to add to the Christmas morning feeling of having a filled stocking...but since I'm single, it's not much of a surprise what's inside.

We hang them up for decorations and then fill them Christmas eve night after kids are in bed.

Gifts. Only actually hung them up a couple years, a lot of the time (for my family) they're just handed over with little gifts in them, so they're used as bags or wrapping paper.

They get filled, and everyone gets one.   (Even the cats &  other dogs/cats I know gets one.)  They get filled with things like batteries (for any toys that take them), holiday candy,  nail polish, hair items, fun dollar store trinkets (the fuzzy socks from there, rolled up to fit was a big hit this year), pens/stamps for older folk.  Things that are needed but don't cost alot fill the stockings, another one of our traditions.

When we were kids, we always thought  Santa filled our stockings. The gifts were always from our parents. So what ever was in the stockings was always a joy. Orange and a small toy and some Christmas candy. And we thought he was quite generous. Now they expect Santa to bring them a lot of things.

The stockings are hanged up in early December in my family and we stuff each other's on Christmas night during different intervals.  My unused fireplace would not seem right without the the stockings decorating it for some reason otherwise.

I always make a stocking for all the kids, now its all the kids and their kids! lol.  I fill them with all sorts of different candy along with trinkets. chap stick, lip gloss, perfume sticks, pens, notepads, calendars candy canes and any thing else I can think of.

when I was growing up the stocking would get filled. I now have 2 stockings at my fireplace now but they are just for decoration
