What do you do with unwanted gifts?

If I received an unwanted gift as a Christmas present, I either return it or simply donate it.

I actually have not gotten any un-wanted gifts for a few years now. If I did I would probably either return it or re-gift if I could.

I'll exchange it or give it to someone who needs it, or sees greater value in it than I do.

I really don't know. I got one this year from my husband and I really don't know how to tell him.  Keep in mind that I was crystals clear about what I wanted....sigh...husbands!

I never get an unwanted gift. But if the gift is something I already have or can't wear I will ask if I can exchange it.  As of a few years ago  I have told most of my family not to get me anything as I already have too much and to use it on their grand kids. And that is what they do. As far as the rest I usually will bake cookies and make candy and send it too them. Christmas is the season and Jesus is the reason. not the how many and how much the gifts are.

I do both. Re-gift and or donate the unwanted gifts most of the time, or sometimes, I just store the gifts for a year or two and wait until there could be of use to one of my friends. I have done this for 2 years and it has worked. I no longer have unwanted gifts in my closet. This year I got no unwanted gifts, so I was lucky this year!

If its not something easily returned or exchanged I'll put it on a closet shelf.  Then, in a few years I'll ask my girls if they want it and if not I'll dispose of it in one way or another.

First I check to see if the receipt is there then exchange if possible.  I usually always put in a gift receipt so that they can for size, or if they wanted something different etc.    Most of my family does the same with the receipts.   I'll try to re-gift if all else fails.
