I am an Independent Baptist.  I am a member and attend church regularly.  I believe there is one God and believe in the Holy Trinity (God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit).  I believe every word of the Bible from Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 20:22.  Although I admit I don't understand a majority of it, I accept it.  One day I will understand every word when the Lord Jesus Christ enlightens me when I get to Heaven.  I have read the Bible from cover to cover numerous times.  I'll finish it and then start all over.  I start every morning with prayer and devotionals and keep a conversation going with the Lord throughout the day.

Gayla, how do you keep reading something and accepting it if you dont understand it?
I think she means there's obviously enough text to study for a lifetime, yet the overall concept of scripture is easy enough to understand.(we are finite beings after all)

Quote
RE the trinity...Jesus said,The father is greater than I...

The Father is greater in his role in the Trinity, but He is equal in essence. Hence Jesus saying "I and my Father are one"
Quote
RE going to heaven....When God created A&E if they didnt sin they had the prospect to live forever on earth. What makes you think Gods plan has changed?

Life on earth was changed entirely by A&E.Don't you think the afterlife was changed just as drastically?
Quote
The bible says the earth stands forever and the righteous ones will live forever on it.
Yep.

Acts 8:29----…29Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot." 30Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?" 31And he said, "Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.…

Jesus and his Father, Jehovah God, are also “one” in the sense that they are in complete agreement as to intentions, standards, and values. In contrast with Satan the Devil and the first human couple, Adam and Eve, Jesus never wanted to become independent of God. “The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he beholds the Father doing,” Jesus explained. “For whatever things that One does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”—John 5:19; 14:10; 17:8.

When Adam and Eve willfully disobeyed God by breaking the command that had been laid upon them, they in reality turned their back on the one who provided them with everything that they had. (Genesis 3:6) In so doing, they lost their beautiful Paradise home not only for themselves but also for their offspring. (Romans 5:12) Did the first couple’s disobedience thwart God’s purpose in creating the earth?
A God Who Has Not Changed
Through his prophet Malachi, God declared: “I am Jehovah; I have not changed.” (Malachi 3:6) Commenting on this verse, French Bible scholar L. Fillion observed that this declaration is closely associated with the accomplishment of divine promises. “Jehovah could have annihilated his rebellious people,” wrote Fillion, “but being unchangeable in his promises, he will, in spite of everything, be faithful to the promises he made in the past.” God’s promises, whether to an individual, a nation, or all mankind, will not be forgotten but be carried out in his due time. “He has remembered his covenant even to time indefinite, the word that he commanded, to a thousand generations.”—Psalm 105:8.

JJ what the hec ru talking about in afterlife??

God told Adam he was going back to dust at death and also the bible says in other places death is a state of non-existence.

Jesus spoke of a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous during his 1000 yr rule.

Lazarus was dead...asleep as Jesus stated. He spoke of no hell or heavenly bliss when Jesus resurrected him!!

The soul that sins dies says scripture in Ezekiel.

As i told you before if you wanna believe when you die if you wind up on Mars or something like that thats up to you.Its NOT biblical tho.Unless you added a new chaptor to bible on yor own....LOL!!

Gkaps you are right!

2nd Corinth 4:4-----New Living Translation
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don't understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

“People of the Philippines: I have returned. By the grace of Almighty God our forces stand again on Philippine soil—soil consecrated in the blood of our two peoples. We have come dedicated and committed to the task of destroying every vestige of enemy control over your daily lives, and of restoring upon a foundation of indestructible strength, the liberties of your people.”
― Douglas MacArthur
