I believe that the 'snow storm' will be passing thru, so he won't be seeing his shadow. With all of the cold that we've had recently, I am very  happy that he won't see his shadow. I welcome spring with open arms.

I know "Phil" is supposed to be the official groundhog, but I always wondered how his predictions could be applicable to other parts of the country.  It seems like it would make sense that each area have its own groundhog weather forecaster in order to be truly accurate.  (Of course, I realize it's all in fun.)

Intricate network of tunnels comprised of groundhogs reporting to Phil? :)

Here in Ohio we have our own groundhog. His name is Buckeye Chuck.Sometimes he agrees with Phil, sometimes not.I don't think either of them are yhat accurate. We usually get 6 more weeks of winter regardless of what the groundhog predicts.

Spring begins around March 20 or 21 so it is always @ six weeks until spring  but the ceremony built up over the silly notion is still a hoot.

I will believe he will see his shadow because the way the weather is going we should have more winter than we want.

in the northeast the ground hog didn't see his shadow because there is lots of snow and wind. I really hope spring comes early because we are getting more snow and no where to put it. 28.5 inches last week and another 6 to8 inches now! :peace:

"Phil" has lots of networks!!  It is sunny here in southwestern Minnesota....so he saw his shadow here.

I've always heard this, but is this theory actually true?  Guess I gotta look back in the history of weather and groundhog shadow showings to see. Hmmmmm
