Streaming device
« on: February 16, 2015, 09:12:40 pm »
Many out there.  I have the amazon fire.  I like the apps.  I have a few games on there. Mostly I like the apps for things like a burning fire place, running river and stuff like that.  What I don't like about it is if you are not careful you will end up purchasing stuff that you don't want.  Mostly in the form of movies, or t.v. shows.
I also have a Roku.  I love it.  So many apps especially for free movies and t.v. show.   l like the pub-d-hub.  It has the old time radio shows like Abbott and Costello, Burns and Allen.  I think this shows are better coming from the radio format than the t.v. versions.  Along with those old radio shows comes the old commercials.  Pub-d-hub even has an old t.v. commercial slot.  That will let you realize just how much time has gone by in our lives.
I was wondering what kinds of streaming devices if any you use and what do you like about them.

I have two Roku's, one upstairs and one downstairs.I agree there is plenty of entertainment to keep me from wanting a cable tv bill. I also have a 21" Android All-In-One Touch Screen in the kitchen for looking up recipes and playing Fruit Ninja on.

I use Netflix because I can watch old episodes of TV programs that I might have missed or watch movies that are available.

Right now we just have netflix (and the cable bill!). We are looking into a streaming device but I doubt I can get my husband to give up his sports channel.

I guess I'm not up to date with gadgets, I don't have any streaming devices. At least I have internet, and a smartphone, although the internet is satellite, so I have a data limit.

:) I use an Iphone and an Ipad. however, I don't stream anything. Cheaper to watch on my local cable. :)

We have Roku and like it pretty well; the only thing is the westerns on there are really, really old and thats what my husband likes to watch the most.  We also stream Netflix and I can always find something I want to watch on it but wish they'd put last years shows on quicker.  We have watched the first season of The Blacklist and can't wait till they put the next season on.  Our daughter tells us not to skip the season and start watching the current season.

I use my laptop for quite a bit. I don't really stream a lot on my phone. I have a pretty good laptop now so I've been streaming a lot more these days.

I have an Apple TV, and just got the new Raspberry Pi for Christmas which I think I'll configure to me a second media streamer.  I think I'll reconfigure my old RPi to be a Nintendo game emulator to play some original Legend of Zelda!
