career moves
« on: February 17, 2015, 07:52:25 am »
I have noticed that some wait staff in a restaurant [ male or female] will work part time while in high school or college.
Then, after about two years, they will move onto a CNA nursing position.
Two to four years is the average time that a person will stay in the job as wait staff.
It is tough on the body and demanding on the character.

Agree! I know I could not be a waitress today at 60.It is just to fast and demanding. You really have to have a lot of energy. I am glad that young people still wait tables. It would have a while to wait at busy resturants to get your food. Not good. BMaston12

Not to mention the abuse they have to deal with the entire time smiling at the customers.   Low tips and long hours make it a rough choice.   I always try my best to be kind, understanding and a good tipper to wait staff.   We all know how rough the job can be.

I agree with BMaston12, that would not be the job for me.  even though I love interacting with people, I don't have the energy to wait tables.
