Best Picture of the Year - Birdman
« on: February 24, 2015, 08:53:32 pm »
Ok, so a little history about me... I have owned a video rental store for 22+ years. (yes we are still in business) So I watch the Oscars to see what people will be asking to rent for the next couple weeks.  Birdman won Best Picture of the Year. We already have this one so I had seen it.  I will say I definitely do NOT agree with this pick.
I call this an artsy movie without a point.... if it had a point, I missed it and I hope someone will enlighten me.

I never thought Birdman would won the best picture of the year. I thought meaningful movie would won it, but I still enjoy to watch Oscars.

I still can not comprehend how Birdman won the Oscar award.  It's not a bad movie, but there were a few other in my sight.

The only one I'd seen is Boyhood.  It's a really good movie.  I can't imagine any other movie being better than that!

Why are you using that foul language (netflix)?  LOL...

There were far better movies than Birdman on the list of nominees.

I saw Birdman and it was interesting, but strange.  The actors were very good. However, I think American Sniper should have won.

Birdman isn't for everyone. There's a lot going on and it isn't what most people expected. I think American Sniper was the clear choice for Best Picture (without a doubt) and the controversy surrounding it may have cost it the Oscar.

I've always liked Michael Keaton,so I feel bad he didn't win. But I haven't seen the film,so I got nothin' on whether in deserved it.

My Brother & Sister saw American Sniper and said they thought it should've won as well.

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!

The reason Birdman won is because it is very well shot, the acting is outstanding. It shows the decay of a stressful man (who is putting his life on the line with this play). It's a beautiful story and it's very well scripted.

I only watched the pre views for this movie but I could not even get a sense that it was a movie I would like to watch.  So, thanks for the headsup.  I work at a library and get my dvd's there (sorry, about not supporting my local video store) so probably will let this one slide.

By the way....there are lots of video stores still open in small towns with a population that doesn't have satelite tv or internet.....those places do still exist so thanks for having a video store.

And this is why they make so many movies, because everyone has a different taste and sense of what makes a good movie.
