I can get to sleep, but usually wake up after 3-4 hours and have trouble getting back to sleep. The older you get the harder it is to stay asleep all night and I have no stress in my life.

Probably what is normal for most people - worrying about bills, stress at work, having caffeine too late in the day...

The same old things that bother others.  I sometimes turn on a news channel, that usually gets me to sleep!  LOL

When I drink ice tea and coke, it makes me awake all night.

I love to sleep in. I have no problem sleeping well at night. But since I gave birth to my daughter 2 weeks and 4 days ago I wake up constantly to watch her or change her and feed her. She is in charge now and sleepless nights continue since. I do miss my sleeping schedule but with my first newborn now I her my sleep whenever she naps which are every 2-3 hours then she wakes me up lol...but its worth it and she brings me so much joy!:)

It depends. Some nights I sleep great while other nights I can't sleep well at all. For example, the other night I could not fall asleep due to something that happened at work. Just kept stressing and could not take my mind off of it.

I'm a night person, and never feel sleepy until around 3 a.m. or so. Since I'm retired, I get to sleep in the mornings until I don't want to sleep any longer.  One of my biggest obstacles to getting to sleep is knowing that I have to get up early the next morning.  I worry so much about getting enough sleep that I keep myself awake. I have a breathing exercise that does help and also a drop or two of the essential oil lavender on the bottoms of my feet help most of the time.

it would seem anymore everything keeps me from getting a good night sleep.  our son who is two and half has always slept in our bed since he was born as he was breastfed and still is (no comment please ).  anyway we have been having a lot of health issues in our immediate family with my dad and my husband grandmother and aunt and even my husband who almost passed away three months ago at the age of 29 it just seems like everything keeps pilling up.

The only thing that keeps me awake at night is the noise I hear outside my window. Fire engines, police cars, ambulances, you name it. Annoying. I can hardly watch a movie without missing parts.

My ability to sleep seems to run in cycles.  I'll go a few months not having any trouble sleeping, then for several months I can't sleep hardly at all.  I, too have trouble turning my brain off after I'm in bed.  I usually play on my Iphone a little bit and sometimes that will help relax me but not always.  I always heard that older ppl don't need as much sleep but I'm not finding that not to be true.  I do need my sleep or I'm just goofy the next day.

I completely understand! I've been taking sleep aids regularly since the beginning of this year, which I don't like.  I'm not addicted, but I don't like putting medicines in my body.  I heard a while ago that cherries assists restful sleep, don't know how true that is yet.

Those making a correlation between diet and sleep may have a point.  I always see sleeping good as a benefit of exercising, so I can imagine how a healthy diet would help to also ease the mind.
