I use the mouse that came with my laptop.  However, when I first got a laptop I almost gave up and got a wireless mouse.  I didn't give up and now I use it without problem.

I like the wired mouse best. I tried a wireless, but it seemed like I didn't have the same control as with the wired.

I think we get stuck with what we're comfortable with. I have a little problem with laptops but I don't use them that much. I'm pretty sure if I had my own laptop, I would learn to like it just as well, it not better.

So for right now, I just use my regular mouse with my lowly desktop computer, and I'm quite happy with it for the time being.

The wireless mouse are fairly good, and it is less messy...

I am curious. How is it less messy?  ??? Because of the attached cord?

I guess I don't really have a preference between a wireless vs wired mouse. However I can't stand the touch-pads that many laptops come with. When I'm working on the computer, I tend to do more typing than I do manipulating my mouse pointer. As such, my hands are almost always over the touch-pad while I'm typing. What I hate is when the touch-pad moves the cursor while I'm typing; I'll have the beginning of a sentence at the end of a line, and the rest of the sentence appearing in some random place that the touch-pad decided I directed the cursor to. That's why wherever I get a new laptop that has a touch-pad, the first thing I do is disable the touch-pad and just use an external mouse instead.
