Do you keep your checkbook balanced at least every week to make sure you have not wrote to many checks
or used your debit card to  much?  💳💰

I do this about once a week whether or not I've used my debit card just to make sure I am not going passed zero and having to rely on overdraft money. The fees my bank charges for overdrafting are quite high.

I do it once a week or so, especially if I have epays scheduled or used my debit card a lot. My husband never balances his checkbook. Granted, any mistake I've ever found was my own.

What I do is leave $20 in the checkbook and I don't add it to my balance so in case I have to write something in an emergency I know I have at least that in my account. It comes in handy especially when the monthly charge gets deducted so I am always having a balance. I also do the account on my old computer to make sure I have added and subtracted correctly.

I only balance/reconcile my checkbook with the bank statement once a month.

I do record each purchase I make using my debit card and keep a running balance.

Like others here, I have some money "hidden" in the checking account that is not in my written balance so I should never get an overdraft.

I keep a running balance of my checkbook every time I use it.  This way I know I will never be overdrawn.  I keep track of all the money I spend.

I don't write that many checks anymore so I just balance my checkbook once a month. During the holidays I may keep a running total because I spend more at that time. Otherwise I just balance once a month :rainbow: :peace:

I haven't written out a check in years.
I check my account balance periodically over the internet.   I don't balance it out.

I balance my checkbook when I get my statements. I can't stand it if it's not right.

BTW, all you people who do balance your checkbooks, be proud.  :star: The lady at my credit union says that hardly anyone does that anymore. What???

I like knowing precisely what I have in my accounts and where my money goes, so yeah....

I reconcile my statements and makes sure everything is in sync.
Have a great day!

I can't imagine not keeping the checkbook balanced.  Every time a check is written it's recorded and subtracted.  Once a week we get on the credit unions online site and check the balance to make sure everything comes out even.  When the statement comes in at the beginning of every month for the previous month, we balance the checkbook again.

I can tell you where every single penny coming into the household comes from and where every single penny that goes out went and what it was for.

I like to keep some hidden money in the checking account as well just in case.

I do mine every time I make a transaction, if I don't I will overdraw.
