Grocery store rant. Feel free to join in!
« on: March 25, 2015, 02:29:35 pm »
I hate it when I find a product I really like (in this case a salad kit), and use it religiously for a while and then without notice, the store stops carrying it! AHHH  >:(

Try asking the store if they will restock it.  Sometimes the store will honor specific requests for items.

It's at least worth a try.

(I live in a small town, so perhaps that is why my store has honored requests?)

I have a grandson who is lactose intolerant.  They use to in my area carry the Yoplait Lactose free in lots of different flavors.  Now they only carry 3 fruit flavors.  I ask every time I go into a store if they could carry plain or vanilla flavored, but they say they can only order what they have on their sheets, so no other flavor yet.  I keep telling them a plain flavor wood work good to add or use for cooking.  But so far no luck.  They carry other brands but they cost a lot more.  Anyway, at least they do carry the 3 flavors....better than nothing.

I agree it is frustrating when you no longer can find an item you like because a store decides to discontinue.

If the demand isn't high enough they're losing money. It happens a lot they'll stop carrying stuff or bring stuff back. I've worked at 3 grocery stores and my husband works for Walmart and that's how it seems to work from my experience.

I hate it too.... It always happens with the whole sale club i shop most of my groceries. I like and buy once next time i look for it... they answer Oh.... we dont carry those any more... makes sense for them if they dont get that sold as they thought then they will stop... but for us a consumer its a disaster.

I hate it when I go to the grocery store and the prices have been raised AGAIN.  I have never read the Hunger Games but if it is about what I think it is - we are fixing to be living it.  I have always said I could never want anything bad enough to steal it.  But when I was at the grocery store this morning I realized I was wrong.  If I was hungry enough I think I just might steal food.  It is getting ridiculous.  A lot of people are not going to survive.

Our grocery store is famous for dropping items. If it is not making enough for them they drop it. I used to buy rice milk for my dad, I bought a couple a week . He is diabatic and it is an item he can use.  Several months into buying it they dropped it and wanted me to buy another product that was 3 times higher.  Well I just wait until I go see the doctor 80 miles away and stock up for him. I am not going to play their games. In fact I buy most of my groceries out of town.  Summer time I buy almost all of my veggies at the farmers market and the distribution canter.

OMG, I know EXACTLY how you feel!  The best part is it usually IS a really popular product that sells out quickly and all of a sudden, POOF!, like magic, it's GONE never to be heard from again!

That happens to us all the time with our salad dressings!  Just when we get used to one they replace it or pull it from stock!!  I also don't know why they did that with French Toast Crunch!!! So good!

Oh yes, I hate that too! It always seems like it's the most popular products that they discontinue! I would think they would want to keep selling the products that are popular! But it's not just grocery stores. Walmart is notorious for that also, and even online there are a lot of companies that discontinue popular products. There was one company online I tried to order something, and they said they discontinued it, even thought it was their most popular product for decades! Why wouldn't they want to keep selling such popular items?

This happened to me twice so far this year, I "discovered" something tasty & great, & the two stores - Ralphs/Krogers & Sam's  Club no longer carrys it.   :(

One was Ralph's Private Selection Greek Yogurt with Honey & the other was some granola/ cookie bars in the bakery section at Sam's Club.    It's unfortunate, but life goes on.     Hopefully Sam's Club will carry the granola bars again, they were a great pre-Workout food & only 100 calories, just enough.  I miss them, lol
